The Ruby Nation

by NitztheBloody
Dr. Evie Sloane-Harrison and Dr. Tori Carcharria dreamed of solving global medical problems with nanotechnology. Unfortunately, good intentions led them to create post-human child warriors forced to serve cruel wealthy elites. Before committing suicide, Dr. Sloane-Harrison administered a dose of an enhancement serum to her daughter, Ruby. After a laboratory monkey bit Ruby, she grew exponentially and developed electromagnetic superpowers. Rejected by society and pursued by a global conspiracy, Ruby befriended a group of post-human misfits. Together, they battle against Dr. Carcharria, as they seek to create a peaceful new homeland in Neil Kapit's thrilling science fiction tale, Ruby Nation.

Hey, it was one heckuva story, and a great read. I would have liked to see what their child had turned into before it was born, but this is a good, honest ending.

Bravo. Keep us informed of your next project, please. :)

Well, it ends on an optimistic note. We don't need the epilogue.
Congrats on all the hard work and the dedication to see this comic to its end. I'm looking forward to your next endeavor.
Very hard, to realize what transpired while she was captive...

All great things must come to an end. It was a great read and has evolved a lot from page 1. Congratulations on reaching the end though! it is a feat I feel not enough comic creators are able to reach.

I am sure there will be another NitzTheBloody comic coming along soon?

No, you don't get an epilogue. You don't need to see ten years in the future where all the characters are married and happy and have a brood of sickeningly sweet children. You don't even need to see a dead parent come back to life, give some emotional closure via exposition that totally didn't make me openly weep, then keel over and die again. This is the note you end on. Make of it what you will.
I had a plan for a sequel series with Ruby as a messiah figure, trying to raise her own children while reluctantly leading a world of followers, many of whom completely pervert her ideals, but there are other plans...
@hipopotamo: At least we return to our current dystopia, where people have more opportunities to make mistakes and hurt others...
@keiiii: Good point, which is probably why she dies surrounded only by her enemies/victims.
So ends the Doctor. Frightening thing is she kind of has a point there. This is the kind of dystopia I was thinking of when I wrote the crossover.
It says a lot about Elise's nature that she has her revenge instincts on check...

The doctor ALMOST raises a valid point, but then asks the wrong question by making it all about the self.
The Ruby Nation 11-12: Deathbed Mercy
RIP Olivia Schruke, a.k.a Victoria Carcharria, a.k.a. The Doctor. Died from complications of acute renal failure caused by being shot. Survived by the entire world, all under her spell and none aware of her existence.
The Ruby Nation 11-11: Bang Becomes Whimper
After all the horrible, horrible< /a>, horrible , horrible< /a> things the Doctor's done, the most positive emotion her impending doom can elicit from Elise is pity. And when it comes to the Lust for Revenge, pity is a real mood killer.
Even The Doctor can't overcome her genet ic handicaps, as Jiro quickly surmises.

And as we close on Ruby Nation, we get the last Metal Gear reference , in regards to a similarly interrupted villain. Truly the end of an era.
The future is a Gargoyle? O.o
A battle for the ages. Love the little touch of one of our "heroes" discreetly taking his leave on the last panel. :)
OK, I didn't see this coming.
Looks like the ultimate boss battle for our ragtag heroes.
The Ruby Nation 11-9: All Your Powers Combined
The Doctor'senhanced form combines traits from a variety of characters across the comic. Try to guess which ones!

After all this time, Ruby and the Doctor finally get set to fight. Ruby gave the Doctor a chance to surrender, and she's not about to offer another...
