Kirby's Moonlight

Kirby's Moonlight

The moon has gone missing, and it's up to Kirby to find out why! As Kirby adventures across skies of shimmering light with friends both old and new, he quickly finds his journey overcomplicating itself. Kirby must uncover the mysteries of the moon, discover the truth about the past Heroes of Dreamland, and put an end to the ever-evolving evil that has been following Popstar for far too long. It's all a bit more convoluted than Kirby was expecting, but he knows he can handle it.

After all, the best kind of Hero is a willing one.

The third Spirit Star is the Hero's Sacrifice, and will require Kristie to sacrifice herself. This is because she is not an angel because she is a past Hero, but because she was created from the remainder of the First Hero after they first perished.

All shocked, they barely have enough time to react. Kirby manages to stop Kristie, demanding that there must be another way.

yeah this escalates quickly. idk what little me was thinking
Meanwhile, Kristie reveals that she's been hiding something. The Spirit Stars are not normally possible to obtain. First, they require a specific location. Second, they require the presence of the First Hero.

Kirby and Ribbon reminisce over their shared history. Kirby gets teased a bit about his old crush on Ribbon.

Ribbon also reveals that she's been searching for Kirby, to let him know that Dark Matter has returned. She has with her the second Spirit Star. It represents the Hero's Love, and she claims that it appeared before her as soon as she entered Popstar's atmosphere.

How convenient!

Kirby and company end up moving on to finding the second Spirit Star. When they encounter Ribbon getting attacked by members of the Sealed Army, they jump into action, fending them off. Ribbon is happy to see Kirby again, and the feeling is mutual, while Sombre and Kristie both realize that the bronto burt they met earlier was not a bronto burt, but a fairy.

Meanwhile, Meta and Galacta continue their journey through the cosmos, growing closer and closer. Galacta brings up the fact that, once they wish for the Seal to return, Galacta's gonna have to go back to being sealed, too.

Meta questions if that's what Galacta really wants. Galacta simply considers it a choice between being a good guy and being a bad guy. If they don't get the Seal back, the rest of the Sealed Army's gonna cause a lot of problems.

Sombre, hearing this, can only offer some idle comfort. He explains that, although he was a Hero before, he never wanted to be. He was forced into the job, constantly rescuing Dreamland from foes and their kin.
So, with that knowledge... Kirby is making his own choices. It's his willingness to be a hero that makes him a better Hero than someone like Sombre.

Kirby does manage to feel just a bit better, hearing that. The first Spirit Star reveals, which represents the Hero's Will, reveals itself, and is claimed.

Gooey, fed up, decides that enough is enough, and demands to know what's got Kirby in a knot. Kirby explains that he's simply unsure of how to feel about his own heroism, now. Especially if it was all decided for him.

Kirby had thought that his decision to be a hero was his own, but knowing now that he's simply part of a long line... what does that mean for his own autonomy and agency?

Meanwhile, Kirby, Gooey, Sombre, and Kristie discuss possible plans of action. Kristie seems to be very deadset on scouring Popstar for something known as Spirit Stars. She explains that they're aspects of the First Hero that, when combined, will create something useful, with all the vagueness that comes with a statement like that.

With no other possible plans, Kirby seems okay with it. Gooey is fine with whatever Kirby's fine with. Sombre, however, continues to be suspicious of Kristie.

Sombre and Kristie explain that they want Kirby's help to deal with the issue of the missing moon. Meta and Galacta decide to travel together across the cosmos to find Nova. Gooey sticks with Kirby, though both Kristie and Sombre are somewhat wary of him, due to him being made of the same stuff as Dark Matter.

As Meta and Galacta travel from planet to planet, gathering what they need to summon Nova, they grow closer and closer.

Back on the Halberd, Meta's mysterious guest is revealed to be none other than Galacta Knight. They explain the situation: the moon being missing is most likely a result of the Goddess of the Moon going missing.
It stands to reason that if they find the Goddess of the Moon, they bring back the night!
But, there's something else.

The moon's energy was used to keep a seal active. A seal that held back not only Galacta, but a plethora of warriors that had once brought ruin to Popstar. These warriors are free, now, and to create a new seal, someone's gonna need to contact Nova.
During this explanation, Galacta reveals that angels, Gods, and Goddesses are all past Heroes. Kirby is not terribly happy to hear that he's apparently part of a long line of heroes.

Then, Sombre and Kristie finally find Kirby, and arrive on the Halberd.

August 29th, 2019
Meanwhile, two angels, Sombre and Kristie, are discussing the troubling matter of the missing moon. Sombre is only aware of the fact that the Goddess of the Moon is missing, while Kristie seems to know more...
She prompts Sombre into going down to Dreamland to warn the residents of an oncoming threat. Sombre is a bit suspicious, because why would Kristie know something that the other Gods and Goddesses don't?
He tries to bring it up on a few occassions, but Kristie always interrupts. She is very deadset on finding Kirby, in particular.

They meet a young girl on their journey, but since she's not Kirby, they end up leaving. They confuse her for a bronto burt, but...?

Meanwhile, again, the Gods and Goddesses who aren't currently missing are having a meeting. They bring up the missing Goddess and the missing Angels. They discuss their concerns, making note of the God of the Sun being the Goddess of the Moon's "brother."
The God of Negativity points out the unhealthiness of their relationship, but... the topic ends up getting dropped.

So, instead, they head for the Halberd, because Metaknight ALWAYS knows what's up! Gooey uses his mock matter form to fly up, while Kirby manages to get the Cupid Ability from a falling purple feather. As soon as they land onboard, Metaknight is there to greet them.

Meta considers it good timing, because he currently has another guest who has visited him to discuss matters of the moon.

There's trouble afoot in Dreamland. The moon's gone missing! If anyone wants to be able to get a good night's sleep on Popstar, someone's gonna have to do something!

Good thing Kirby's on the case!

When Kirby notices that the sun is still up, even though it's the middle of the night, he and Gooey set off on a journey to figure out just what's going on.

They travel to the right, of course, because what other direction would they go in? Gooey suggests visiting King Dedede to see if he knows anything, but Kirby got him rather angry, recently, so he's not too keen on the idea. Gooey can do nothing else but be exasperated.
