October 20th

Everything is falling apart.

After a decade of fighting the curse that has befallen them, Catherine and Raimundo have their backs to the wall. The last of their allies have been claimed by the monster that comes for them on October the 20th, and now, they may face the horror alone, isolated on the Icelandic tundra.

Can they survive the day? Can they find a way to go on, even if they lose everything? And can they find the man called Shields McKloskey, who seems to hold all the answers?

In Panel 6, is that shadow, or was Rai THAT frightened?

The monster does look oddly ..... Terminatorish. O.o
I dig the Grievious reference, ha ha.

Well, Rai is certainly in his element as long as he can run and jump. We know the monster is relentless but we don't know how fat it is. Have the monster got an upgrade since Ansgar faced it?

Man, General Grievous hasn't aged well at all.

But in all seriousness, of all the things I imagined this...thing...to look like, I don't think I ever expected this. I thought it would look entirely supernatural, but instead we get something oddly modern. Fascinating...

And it's nice to see the graffiti around these parts keepin' it classy. Kultur!
... Well, that's just lovely... Big bad seems to be some sorta ancient cyborge because that does not look like a skeleton to me... or is it just wearing some kinda suit... ah whatever first time we've actually seen this thing.
No, no crowded areas. Cops = bystanders. Wait for the bad guy to jump at you and jump elsewhere. You've had more experience at this, Rai, unlike sheer killing, where it has the advantage. Sight distance and terrain are your friends, lactic acid buildup, your enemy.

Oh brother. Oh man. Oh Rai, run like you've never run before. That thing's got a blade for one hand, so, maybe it can't climb so well?
Panel 6, dud. Rai's expression, body language, that angle, and the coloring. Wow.
Seriously, Rai, head for a crowded area. Preferably one filled with cops.

Your cameos are always so seamlessly worked in! And the translation is much-appreciated for this monolingual pleb over here.

@hipopotamo: I doubt they are in any serious danger.

@GroovyKinda: For Rai to come blasting by was the original intention. I came down on a different idea, though. If you look closely on the last panel, you'll see a silent shadow moving across the roof tops.

@Delta-v: I worry some times that I go too far with the inside jokes. But once I got this idea, I didn't want to let it go.
I love the character not reading anything after 1830 ha ha.
Awesome strip Marius. Let's hope these nice gentlemen survive Rai's incursion into the city.

Oh ho ho, you devil you. What a handsome, and, might I say, suave group of men.
Well done, Hjels, well done.
I agree with that roguish devil in the 3rd panel. None of the cool kids ever reads anything written after 1830. Especially that silly Victorian steampunk stuff.
Why do I think Rai is gonna come blasting through the middle of their table in the next page?

Ha! I loves me a good inside joke--especially when I'm far enough inside to understand it! ^^

Kudos! :)

I'd take some time to apologize for the delay of this page. Alot is happening around the comic, and big changes are afoot. What those changes are, will become clear soon. Don't worry. It's all good. And... there is another reason for my tardiness, but let's not dwell on that. Let's instead look to the HORIZON.

This is important. The three distinguished gentlemen around the table on this page should in no legal way be confused for Charlie Wise, creator of Groovy, Kinda, Andy Purviance, creator of I, Mummy, and my brother, creator of many beatings throughout my childhood. You have no evidence that I in any way stole their likenesses for this page. Absolutely ZERO.

From this moment forward, the rest of the chapter though, belongs to Rai, and his fight to reach midnight. Will he ever again see DAWN?

Lastly, for those interested, the following is the english translation of the german text on this page:

PANEL1
-Have you read the latest by Ishikawa?

PANEL2
-It really captures the fear of the unreliability of memory in a post-industrial world.

-I've heard good things, dear friend.

PANEL3
-But unfortunately, I don't read anything written after 1830. I find it all both harsh and vulgar.

PANEL4
-You should come by my bookstore some time. Our 1830's section was just refurbished.

PANEL5
-My friends, a toast to high culture!

-Culture!

@Delta-v: Shields is ever the pragmatist, and he's planning for the future. He might be overestimating how willing Cat is to move on, though.
