Legend of Zelda: The Edge and The Light

by queeniechan
After years of absence, Link finally returns to Hyrule from his travels abroard. Initially expecting to greet Princess Zelda, he instead finds the kingdom in decline, plagued by all kinds of trouble. Just what is causing these problems, and does it have anything to do with why Link left in the first place?

NB: This story is now finished, at 11 chapters and 312 pages! Thanks to everyone who read it. For those who want to know what I'm doing next, please check my DeviantArt account (http://queeniechan.deviantart.com/)

@AHungryFreak: Thanks. :D I hope you do! I drew this years ago, but I'm happy I still get comments about it.
Oh my gosh. I can already tell I'm gonna love this.
@Koren: Thanks, Koren. I'm of the firm opinion that having some sass makes him more interesting. I don't imagine Link is actually easy to hang out with in real life - he always strikes me as a loner who helps people out and then disappears. The idea that he would be a totally nice guy is just incompatible with how I see him.
Link has so much more sass in this than he normally has in the games or official manga. Quite frankly, I love it.
@vloshry: Thanks. I'm glad you enjoyed the format. A lot of people do, it seems, and the original work I've done in that format does quite well.
i admire the combination of literature and comic! and i know how hard just drawing already is!
@madisonhagan1: You're not the only one! I never really got it, but I've found a fair amount of fanfiction online that you may find interesting... ;)
Ever since I was 6 and played OOT I had shipped Link and Ruto together, Lol.
@kolbibeef: Thanks, glad you enjoyed it! I just finished a 3-book series called "Fabled Kingdom" which you can read part of on DevArt (or my website). You can also buy the books off Amazon or off my website at http://www.queeniechan.com/store
Absolutely amazing! I love the direction you took the story in and the connections you made to other Zelda games in your art as well as your prose. Your writing is phenomenal!

I am now watching you on Deviantart because you are just plain awesome!
@kolbibeef: She'll pull through and make the right one.
@kolbibeef: Since it's Hyrule field, wasn't there a few Great Rupee chests around? So a walletful.
@kolbibeef: The best part is, if you're not a Zelda fan, you could have just missed that reference. :)
@kolbibeef: Yeah, I thought that Dark Link didn't have a proper creation story. So, here it is.
@kolbibeef: Was probably inspired by that, now that I think about it.
Man... what a hard choice to make...
How many rupees did he find while cutting the grass? Hehehe
BWAHAHAHA "being plagued by an infernal beeping noise that just refuses to go away"!!! He must be on his last heart container XD

LOVE IT!
Nice Dark Link creation story! XD
Reminds me of Ashitaka from Mononoke Hime
