A Game of Roleplay

What would have happened if the story of George RR Martin's 'A Song of Ice and Fire' had been told in the form of a role-playing game? This webcomic is based around this central premise using screencaps from HBO's Game of Thrones, in the style of popular webcomic Darths & Droids.

This Comic updates Monday/Wednesday/Friday at noon GMT.

Sometimes it's hard to know how to make light of some scenes...

Surprisingly, the one with the rat burrowing through a man's chest isn't one of them...

I'm probably going to take a break from regular uploads once this chapter's finished. December is a busy month at work and I've got other D&D related commitments. I'd rather not drop down to infrequent uploads like I did before though, that just drained my motivation to get it done. We'll see how it goes in a few weeks when I get through this lot.

Whoops, missed my deadlines for last week. It's been a hectic week at work. Last Tuesday I was at the Escape Room International Conference (E.R.I.C). Have I mentioned that I work at an escape room now? Well I have now.

Anyway, this is one of my role-playing pet peeves. I understand rogues wanting to be sneaky at every opportunity, but maybe vary up how you say it.
@Line seer: Don't know how that ended up there. Thanks for pointing it out, it should be fixed
A stray line
Hey, uh, it looks like there's a paintbrush line over the last few panels. Might want to fix that.
Curiouser and curiouser.
Damn rot-goblins.
Seems like ages since the last Joffrey scene. There's much more of him in the rest of the season.
That steak-stake joke would work better in the radio play version of this webcomic...
First they came for Dorne, and I did speak out. Because that writing was crap.

Then they came for Sansa, and I spoke out, because that was a wholly unnecessary and poorly executed assault storyline.

Then they came for Stannis, and I spoke out, because they wasted that character.

Then they did the Hodor stuff and the Battle of the Bastards, and I was like "OK that was cool, I'll allow it."

But then they stabbed Arya like six times in the stomach and chucked her into a canal of piss water and she was absolutely fine like a half hour later, and I got pissed off all over again.

Then they came for Margeary, and I did not speak out, but probably should have, because I really liked that character, and felt like that story was going somewhere, but the way it was resolved showed that the writers never bothered to come up with a plan or scheme, but side-stepped the issue by implying that there was more going on behind the scenes.

Then they put ED SHEERAN IN MY GODDAMN MEDIEVAL FANTASY SERIES!!

Then they came for Tyrion's brain, and I spoke out, because they made him an idiot.

Then they had Jaime and Bronn swim all the way across a lake in heavy armour, and I spoke out because I realised that no actions had consequences anymore.

Then they decided to just make Lord of the Rings, and I spoke out because this is not the Lord of the Rings.

Then they forgot that Westeros is bloody massive, and you can't just fly across it twice in an hour.

Then they came for Littlefinger, and I did not speak out. because at that point, I'd pretty much given up.

Then they did the most important battle of the series in complete darkness, and I looked at the black rectangle on my phone and thought... I paid money for this...

Then they came for Daenerys, and everyone else spoke out and it was too late.

Then they came for Bran... Like seriously... Bran. NOBODY'S FAVOURITE CHARACTER!

But whatever, he had the best story right?
Maybe they just found a copy of Fire and Blood - A History of the Targaryen Kings from Aegon the Conqueror to Aegon III available in bookstores everywhere now.

Featuring one interesting chapter on Aegon's conquest, one interesting chapter on Maegor the cruel, seven interesting chapters on the Dance of Dragons and fourteen chapters of filler.

Recommended: 4/5 stars.

I cast 'Parental Guidance!'

My father adds +1d4 to his next ability check.
I think I've talked about the Diplomacy board game here before, but if I haven't you should go play it.

With 6 other people who you're currently friends with, but are prepared to never speak to again.

I love the theme of power that plays between Varys and Littlefinger in the first few series of the show.

I may have gone a bit overboard with front-loading the Tyrion plot. I've struggled to find scenes for this chapter, because the last two were over 50% his story. Now we're back split between three stories it's been easier to pace, except there's a risk of dropping down to two stories again, because one's gotten too far ahead.

Meh, we've got the omnishambles which will be Blackwater to come this season, so that'll be fun.

I'm starting a new job today, so apologies if comics are a little patchy for a while.

I know you're probably wary of when I say that given recent track record, but I'm really trying this time.
@Sera: Thanks man, really makes this whole thing worthwhile. I hope I'm living up to your prolonged expectations.
@Quill Dragon: Glad you enjoyed!
A Binge Read
I love this comedy. It feels so natural. Also, I both sympathize with and despise the GM. This had been a good laugh.
