Theater of the Bloody Tongue

A tongue-in-cheek mixture of NSFW grand-guignot-stories and SFW crossovers/parodies of other webcomics. Ariane Eldar, beloved doomwitch known from Bad Moon Soho, Steampunk Gorgon and Ariane Eldar Private, is the new undergroundstar of the Theater Of The Bloody Tongue, recreating the classic Grand Guignot. During the theater's tour through underground theaters, the Faceless God appears and forces Ariane to some tasks involving interdimensional travels.

This page was surely inspired by that fantastic shortstory by sturgeon I read so many years ago that I forgot it's name. (The one with the shifted yin-yang, written in the 1950ies. Does anyone recall the name?)

A few days after drawing this I've read that some lunatic tried to break into the shrine of the bonn minster. There's no connection to the comic.

"Finsterkraut" isn't an official term. It was made up by Ariane to describe the more "dark" krautbands.

Lethe Absinth, named after the river of amnesia in the Hades, is Ariane's favourite brand besides Whitechapel Gin. And yes, there's the green fairy over the second guard.

1. The "fake" elevator to a morbid crypta is a gag that was used for real in an early american "underground" club.

2. Strangely, most of the most important and famous horrier movies had been made or released in 1932.

Moondog, the blind musician, already known as "Viking of the 6th avenue, began making music and poems in 1940ies, and later moved to germany, was already pioneer of the second neopagan mythology, and inspiration for the character of the first steampunk comic serial, "Moondog" by George Metzger in 1969.

Wanted: Cameo for one of Ariane's fans.

Ohrpilz: Ohr and Pilz have been important record labes for the Kraut-Movement. "Ohrpilze" are a kind of exotic mushroom, although it sounds very much like an desease in german.

James Last: Composer and leader of the very popular James Last Orchestra, known for an easy-listening mainstream sound for the mass audience, also labeled "Happy Sound". Believe it or not, even some excellent rock musicians from Electric Sandwich and Lucifer's Friend "jobbed" for James Last to earn some money to afford their rock-productions. I am sure they are not proud of that, but musicians must make a living.

He(u)lene Fischer: There's no need whatever to even know her.
