Masazume Wars

by zenmigawa
By the mid-21st century, "Masazume Wars" has become the world's largest and oldest mixed-reality MMO game. Kenneth M. Takagi starts off his new middle school career by offhandedly inspecting a family friend's gift - a new Wars account activation. As a result, he summons a rarity - an unusually emotive, juvenile Fragment (monster-avatar). They stand by each other and grow as they are inadvertently dragged into Wars' burgeoning eSports scene - and perhaps something a little more wicked behind the scenes.

Honozume's a Fire Pig, though...
2019 February 5 is Chinese/Lunar New Year's Day, and it's gonna be the Year of the Earth Pig. Earth Pigs will likely be a lot more steadfast in their generous, giving ways, as opposed to those born in different Pig years (1983 babies like me are Water Pigs, for example). It might be hard to get them to change their stubborn ways, but at least you'll know they're consistent!

Thanks to everyone who has read this silly little comic of mine! I plan to be back with Chapter 04 some time this summer! In the meanwhile, I'll be working on my Pokemon fan thingy, so check it out if you're curious!

Saw the new cover for it. Pretty awesome.
[WORLDBUILDING RAMBLE - Free Skins]
In the beginning, Fragments come with three Skins - a set of cosmetics that make up a united look - pre-designed, free of charge. The first Skin is a "Default" skin, a thematically unified approximation of the Master's unique personal traits/quirks during the Fragment Creation questionnaire. After the Master goes through the Tutorial with their Fragment, the game then gives the Fragment two free Skins, basing their designs off the Default skin's themes for thematic consistency.

One free Skin is the "Swimwear" skin, typically used during events themed around summer vacation, tropical paradises, or large bodies of water.

One free Skin is a "Formal" skin, typically used in response to a black tie dress code, or for when the mood requires refined style and flair.

Masters can unlock more Skin slots as they progress through the game, and the option to purchase extra Skin slots on top of the unlockable slots opens up after a Master's made certain achievements. Masters then can design the new Skins on their own, or commission other Masters to create new Skins on their behalf.

Skins are purely cosmetic in the beginning. With enough resources and programming know-how, Masters can tweak the Skins' items to alter a Fragment's stats only when that particular Skin is active. Thus, in higher levels of play, Skins can double as a rollout shortcut for specific situations or matchups.
LET'S DO THIS, PARTNER!!!
Needed a new top cover for the comic as a whole, at least until I could pump out more story.
The "Character Creation" chapters are done! I hope y'all have enjoyed reading so far!

Despite a focus on schoolwork and a less-than-ideal mental state, I do apologize for finishing this chapter so slowly. I had been hoping to finish this back in August...

This may not please anyone, but this comic will effectively go on hiatus until the latter half of 2019. I will be working on the 2nd of 3 parts of my Pokemon fancomic ( http://www.smackjeeves.com/comicprofile.php?id=127811 ), on top of getting the "Character Creation" chapters translated into Japanese for upload to pixiv. These two projects and one other will be taking up my time in the former half of next year. Please For Your Understanding!

Everyone, Happy Holidays! And I hope to see you all next year!
Sorry for the delay
I was taking six online classes for the summer. Most of them are now done with. Still, I apologize for the hiatus. REEEEAAAAALLY hoping I can get back into the swing of things until the Fall classes begin...
Hi guys. I actually have some (not so great) news to go with the upload of this post. Link below for what's happening with me, and how it relates to updates for this comic.

Well, that was incredibly awful. Here is our heroes guys. A bunch of idiots. BOO!
Insanity is doing the same things while expecting a different result?
I apologize for the two-week delay - I was trying to avoid the burnout I felt after uploading page 07. Hopefully we're back on track to 2-3 pages a week.
Hmm what's this?
Does that sign say...Literal bartender?...Hmm, what starts with bartd? Bartg maybe? Barto?
The image is being auto-resized, so here's the link for the more proper-sized WEB version.

Larger version available
SmackJeeves keeps resizing this double-page spread to the size you see here, making some things hard to see.

I uploaded a larger (i.e. more proper-sized) version here: http://imgur.com/ZamIVXm
