Sacrimony

by IndiraJ
Set in a colorful, unique and diverse fantasy world, Sacrimony is the tale of a strange looking teenage girl named Khajad who has no memory of her past or why she has magical powers. Her mother, Yunika, tries to keep her origin a secret by finding clever ways to deflect and ignore her questions while insisting that Khajad keep a low profile as they try to build a life for themselves amongst high society.

Meanwhile, Siphram, a fallen god, roams the mortal realm in search of redemption after murdering another god in cold blood.

**May contain horrible violence and adult themes at times. It's that kind of story.

All you had to do was ask...
@thelordbaeron: The worst kind.
Pious little assholes.
Oh man she's been there a while
This page took 14 hours of my life and I want it back :(
Thanks! I changed the style a bit and I'm no longer using my scribbly black lines as a crutch. Instead, I'm trying to learn how to use smoother blending for my shading without making everything just look like straight up plastic.
That lower-left panel is freaking fire. I love it.
Yo dawg. I heard you like blind faith.
Welcome to the afterlife!

@thelordbaeron: While I can't say I've got a new respect for my own parents since they did a pretty terrible job at raising me, I get it. They did the best they could do, considering how THEY were raised and what knowledge they had or didn't have and their own culturally ingrained biases (especially considering I'm a first generation American and they both came from poor backgrounds with very limited access to education). 33 year old me has considerably less animosity towards them than teenage me did so now when they do something ignorant, I know it comes from just not knowing any better than a place of genuine malicious intent.
@IndiraJ: It's funny how these things come up, but it wasn't until I was an adult that I realized parents are just people. They make good decisions and questionable decisions. I always viewed my parents as these paragons, because they raised me. But once I hit adulthood and realized "Oh man they had to deal with all of this shit WHILE raising my sorry ass" I got a newfound respect and understanding for them.

@thelordbaeron: Oh man, a few people on webtoons have been trashing her pretty badly saying she's selfish and narcissistic. Like... I can only imagine the people saying that are still teenagers that don't know what it's like to have to make grown up decisions (even if they may be seen as very bad decisions). Or maybe they're shocked that she's not the "perfect" mother figure they're used to seeing in other stories. In any case THANK YOU for getting her!
@IndiraJ: That's why I like her. She isn't just some inherently "perfect" parent, she's just doing what she thinks is best regardless of what we think.

@thelordbaeron: You know, Yunika has gotten a LOT of hate from readers who call her a bad parent. But, like, what is she really supposed to do? It's not an easy conversation to have with your kid at all, especially if you still want them to believe there's some sort of good in the world.
Yeah that would be a hell of a talk.

@thelordbaeron: "You see... at your age, your body might go through some changes and you might start feeling certain feelings that you haven't felt before... and also people want to kill you because of your wings."
C'mon, lady, it's time for the serious "talk".
The glorious mess returns. Oh yeah and I guess that room is disorganized too.
Let's start of the new year with one of the most depressing pages! :D

@thelordbaeron: I also passionately hate forced exposition where a character is suddenly like "Hey let me tell my entire life story to you via a 10 page monologue" and I hope I never end up doing that D:

I also like to try to have other characters get involved and ask questions so it's not just some idiot babbling in a dark room. I always end up skimming through or falling asleep during those kinds of scenes. Especially in RPGs where they're trying hard to get you to care about the character by forcing exposition on you. God bless the "skip dialogue" button.
