I definitely tried my best to make this chapter's content as mild as I could without taking away the impact, but alas I still have to put up my first trigger warning. Sorry folks, it was unavoidable. I've been building up to this particular story for a while now. This was a hard chapter to write and draw, so I'm sure it won't be an easy one to read either. But I would like to say (without giving away spoilers) that justice was served and things turned out alright in the end. Not every story like this one gets that sort of ending, and that is something I am acutely aware of.

I hope that this chapter is still entertaining to read. I am quite proud of it. Sorry about the trigger warning, but I felt it would be best to warn than to blind-sight any of my readers. Best to be safe than to be sorry.

Welcome!
First off, thank you for your interest and curiosity in my comic, “Year of the Marachi”! Whether you talked to me in person or simply stumbled upon this comic, I hope that you enjoy it just as much as I have enjoyed writing and drawing it.

I started writing “Year of the Marachi” in 2006 and adapted it for comics starting in 2013. As of August 2018 I have completed 2 books and am well on my way with the third. My drawing style, methods, and (frankly) skill have changed a lot since I started drawing this comic, as you can see below, and I am very proud of where I have come from and where I have gone! I am excited to share my journey with you through this comic!

If you like this comic, it would mean so much to me if you shared it with others by posting about it on social media or just telling your friends. If you want to financially support “Year of the Marachi”, consider donating to my Patreon (patreon.com/marachistudios). Making this comic is as time consuming as a full time job and I want to keep it free-to-read, so any little bit helps! I do post pages early on my Patreon page as well as some behind-the-scenes material and extra comics.

Without further ado, let me take you to an uncolonized island kingdom off the Pacific Northwest coast. The year is 1937 and a civil war is raging on as the rest of the world approaches World War II.

Happy reading, and happy year of the marachi!

Hello! Hope you all are enjoying book three so far! I'm having a blast drawing it for sure!

I just got home from my third con in a row and boy howdy am I tired! I'm sure you noticed that YOTM pages suddenly stopped uploading. That is because I spent most of May drawing brand new posters for the summer convention season and YOTM was put on the back burner. I'm still working on panels, but it might be another week or two before new pages start posting again! I'm hoping that things on my end will calm down a bit so I can actually get some good work done on the comic and not have to have another hiatus! I should be posting again by July.

In the meantime, enjoy this poster I made of the YOTM kiddos.

Continue to be awesome and see you soon!
Hello there!

Just some housekeeping and updates going into the summer season:

1. Pages will now be updated every other day instead of every day. This is because of a frankly rigorous and time consuming convention schedule this summer (I'm planning on getting nothing done on the comic the whole month of June) and I need to make sure the pages I am making now will last until July.

2. The first page of Chapter 22 (the cover page) will be posted at the same time as this update.

3. Chapter 22 will most likely be another 30-ish page chapter. There's a lot to cover and this is not one I can trim down. That means it will take close to two months to complete. Sorry! I hope it's worth it for you guys!

4. I am hoping that I can move back to updating every day in the Fall if not earlier! Again, there's a lot to cover (book three is definitely the longest of the series) so I want to make sure it doesn't drag for too long. Right now book three is 13 chapters long with a slew of short comics (some of them will be exclusives in the print version).

5. If you're enjoying this series, please consider my Patreon! I post a bunch of stuff on there including some making-of material for Year of the Marachi! I do sketches for patrons for as low as $5 a month!

I think that's it for now. Sorry for having to scale back - I need to make sure I can keep up with my posting schedule without getting sick or burnt out! I have 4 conventions within a month's time starting Memorial Day weekend, so my time is a little tight this next stretch!

Have a wonderful day everyone, and enjoy chapter 22!

Book Three is Coming VERY SOON!
Hello!

First off, a big THANK YOU for getting this far! It means a lot to me!

Second, we're only DAYS AWAY from new YOTM pages! I've been working hard to get material done so I can keep regular updates going! I'm really excited for book three, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I have been writing and drawing it!

This is the official cover for YOTM Book Three: Bejimatu. I'll be posting some some odds and ends like updated character profiles, concept art, and more in the coming days, but soon there will be new pages to enjoy!

Cheers!

@night_walker: That's super strange! It seems that it just started glitching like that recently. I'll try to fix it...

Book Three Update!!! (also thanks!)
First off, THANK YOU SO MUCH fore reading this far! I know this is a bit of a hull to read through, but your support really means a lot to me.

Second, I know book two literally just ended but I wanted to give an update on when to expect book three content. I am already in production and even have some pages done, but please do not expect any new content until February 2018. While I can probably push out a prologue at least before then, I really want to make sure I am ready to get chapters done quickly and efficiently so book three doesn't take three and a half years to make like book two did. Basically, I'm drawing a bunch of new backgrounds, finalizing character designs, and making sure the script is just about finished before I go too far down the panel-drawing rabbit hole.

This could take some time, and I apologize for the hiatus, but doing all of this now could make sure I keep a consistent upload schedule for the entirety of book three (pending any huge life events or emergencies that swing my way). I'll make sure to at least have a prologue out by February, and hopefully by March I will have a cue of chapters all ready to go for your reading enjoyment.

I've been very proud of what I've done already for this series, but I am EXTREMELY excited for book three. I'm really looking forward to sharing more of this story with you.

Cheers! Until the next update! Happy holidays and happy new year!
