Dazer and Eleanor

by MissMarck
General Dazer has dedicated his life to his country and the soldiers under his command. With his father on the council, questioning every move the general makes, Dazer struggles to keep the borders secure and keep the peace with neighboring countries.
Everything gets a lot harder when an Athieran woman washes up on Melonian shores.

@JasonYerAGenius: that's why I went with SmackJeeves! I wasn't going to use a website (or lack thereof) as an excuse!

Thank you so much!

@JFP: To be honest, it's very much the opposite with me ha ha! At my crappy day jobs, I don't take anything personally because it's not personal! It's easy for me to brush it off. But with art, it IS personal, and I want to put as much excellence and craftsmanship into my work as I can. In general, I like having criticism from others, because it does help me grow. But my own inner critic was far worse and cynical, so that's really what I'm struggling with!
Thank you so much for your words of encouragement! It means a lot to me!

She's unconscious, how do we know she doesn't bite?
Doing Great!
Hi Miss Marck, I am one of your followers on Insta. I understand your concerns. I decided to start publishing my first issue right there on instagram. Not the perfect venue for comic work, but it keeps me from thinking too much about it. I'm glad your self-publishing/sharing your work. I'm sure your confidence will grow as you share more pages.

Accepting criticism is the first step to become an inspirational artist. Just remember: the world is filled with worthless jobs where you can get yelled at even for doing something you didn't do wrong at all. It's time to be criticized for doing work you do wanna do.

When you end up working at a crappy job you don't wanna do at all and someone criticizes the quality of your work, the one thing you end up thinking is: "It sucks to be criticized when I don't wanna be doing it at all."

By contrast, someone criticizes your art, you can think, "Hey, at least they're criticizing something I do wanna do."

Go forward and accept that criticism is essential in the art world. Don't fear it. Look up Florence Foster Jenkins. She's considered to be one of the world singers in American pop music history. She said, "People can say I sing horribly. But no one can say I didn't sing."

I originally inked this page probably a year ago, and it's stressing me out to not fix tiny problems I'm noticing.

Here at the very beginning!
I'm actually very nervous. I've worked on this for years, and there's part of me that can't fathom actually putting it out in public. Yikes!
I also struggled with looking back at these early pages... I've learned a lot about making comics since I drew these, and I see so much to redo! But I'm going to just let these pages do their thing, and hope for the best!
