Aesthete's Nesting

Aesthete's Nesting

by Lwellyn
It begins with a death in the family, some tasteful vandalism,
and a small house in the Devonshire countryside.
What it turns out to be is a giggle of queer victorian men building a home amidst emotional baggage and sexual tension.

Aesthete's Nesting is a slice of life webcomic about the gay victorian painter Cecil Mangrove, his arguably even gayer friend Algernon Bellamy-Blake and the people they encounter during their poetically bourgeois existence. Join them in a paradox mixture of comic noir, colors and lazy three panel comic strips, as the author aims to combine his lifelong passions for queer history and darkish humor.

((Trigger Warnings: Reoccurring mention of substance abuse, self harm, anxiety disorders and period typical homophobia as well as foul language and some nudity))

I'm neither denying nor confirming that if you ask nicely, I'll release the high res versions of Cecils sketches ;)

Maybe he's holding back; maybe it's victorian classicism

I'm Back!
Hello there folks! I just wanna say; thank you for everyone who has been patient and has stuck around long enough to be here for this (special thanks to mitchellbravo who commented lovely things right when I was about to give this one up). It's my birthday today and I'm also looking forward to a much more stress free time in my life and I am really stoked to entertain all of you with the fun stuff I've cooked up for these boys <3

Your art is fascinatingly unique. I'm looking forward to seeing where your story goes.

This is the cover of story one. The way this comic will work is that there are both continuous stories and individual comic strips in between. We're going to start with a medium length story that will apparently involve dainty freckle hands and also notebooks!

And here we are at the end of the prologue! You've met the boys now; are you excited to come along for this ride?

Victorian language of flowers anyone?
The orchid stands for refined beauty, the peony alludes to shame and sin but also gay life and secular happiness and finally the poppy means sensual pleasure. Boom; poetic nerd moment.

Welcome!
Welcome stranger to Aesthete's Nesting! This is a character driven slice of life comic set in the late 1870's; there's queer characters galore and also tight pants and waistcoats.

Read more to find out why this cover is both the single best and dumbest thing I've ever created!
