Reidy and Friends' Showcase

Reidy and Friends' Showcase

A general showcase where pretty much anyone can post anything they want, barring porn. Maybe. Probably. We also try to be civil whenever possible, so don't go out of your way to piss people off. Other than that just sit back, relax, and enjoy the showcase.

Anyways, you should have at least SOME experience spriting before applying to join, should you want to. We don't accept recolors and are very much against sprite thieves.

Accepting Author Applications

We welcome both spriters and artists, but please try to be better than a recolor. We'd also appreciate it if you take and give critique with an open mind. To apply, either use the application system or send a PM to Shard or Z. BE SURE TO INCLUDE AN EXAMPLE OF YOUR WORK SO WE DON'T HAVE TO DIG AROUND FOR IT. That annoys us and generally makes it less likely that we'll let you in. We're lazy. So sue us.

At this point, you could basically create an entire comic around these guys!

Joking aside though good job.
In which we have small female echidnas now! Small bats are next, probably.
Well alrighty then.
@The Magnificent Z- Eehh... I did write a story about that, once, but looking back on that it was a stupid idea to begin with. It's not like I use Katai for anything now (or even immediately after that happened, like, past me what even???) so the story is pointless to begin with, and really it served no actual purpose other than "what if I wanna use Katai again in the future??" so I don't really consider it canon anymore. I've no plans of using her for Aware, nor my next project- whatever that may be- and if some day, like 20 years from now, I decide hey maybe I could use Katai for a thing? Then I can come up with a new story, or some different take on {MUTE}, or some other reason that the purple fox death robot is suddenly not dead.

Like seriously, the last time I used Katai for anything was like, the letter 7 or something, and that's so non-canon it's physically painful.
Didn't Katai come back to life anyway?
Eh, things on indefinite hiatus, I'll pass.

Another clip from my project I'm working on that I thought I'd share.
@Zoroark- No, I'm saying there's not anything left to tell about Katai.

If you want stories that take place in the same universe, there's comics like Bar'd, Breaking News, etc that are all in the same universe, linked by a common setting - Trinus.

If you want a comic by me in that universe, well... Aware both has Trinus as one of its Worlds and features Damaru as a main character.

But to me, a sequel is something that directly follows the original story, that you have to have read the original story to understand, and that somehow expands on the established universe somehow. Boruto is a sequel because it's about Naruto's kid and expands upon the universe presented in the original series. One Piece is not a sequel because it's got a continuous story running throughout all the various islands it visits (finding the One Piece, and the various world building stuff it hints at while the Straw Hats travel).

When you ask 'for a sequel', I interpret it as being 'I like the original story and want something directly linked to this, with either the same characters or following up on the story somehow'. Because that's what a sequel is.
@Shard
Less of a literal incarnation of Boruto as a series and more "just moving along in the same Naruto universe" even tho the original Naruto story ended.

One Piece to some degree achieves this with (somewhat contrived) story arcs.

Are u saying this is the one and only story worth telling in the universe {MUTE} took place in?
@Zoroark- Lemme see if I got this straight. You want me to go the 'sequel babies' route... with a character who both died and is physically incapable of having babies to begin with???

I mean, that's not to say I haven't considered adoption as an option, but the fact of the matter is that there'd be no real story to tell about that. If you're referring to Bubble (Hoku's daughter) from page 300, well... that's more Met's territory, and she'd just be a side character in that story if she appeared at all.
Just go the "Boruto" route.
@Doth Geezer- Yes it did. Also, eww.
@Shard: 400 pages of pure fox and robot fuUUUCKIN'

edit: wait no the robot died didn't it
@Zoroark: Shit fam, good question. Doubt it'll have one though.
@Zoroark- Imma indulge you for half a second here. Assuming I were to make a sequel, which I currently have no plans of doing, what would it even be about? The story was wrapped up, and there's no plot threads which I can think of that could be picked up for a sequel series. I appreciate that you liked the comic, but making a sequel just for the sake of making a sequel seems... silly.
sequel when?
<s>i've been on this hellsite for more than 10 years, somebody kill me</s>

Ten years ago today, I posted the first page of a comic called {MUTE}. Five years ago today, I posted the last page of that very same comic. I thought it would be nice to do something to celebrate, even if I did notice stupidly late and thus only have the time to draw this silly little image.

{MUTE} was a big period of time for me. It represented a lot- I grew a lot as a comic maker, as a spriter, as a writer, and as a person while working on it. It ran for five years, how could I not? Things have changed a lot since then, but they've also remained the same. I'm still here making comics, but... wow. Looking back on {MUTE} is an experience for me, because there's just so many things I would do differently if someone ever hit my head hard enough to make me stupid enough to try and re-create the entire comic. But there's also so many things I'd keep the same. There's some part of me that's admittedly curious exactly what I'd do if I re-created the series... but then every single logical part of me just slaps that part of me and I get back to work on what I've been doing since then. I really enjoyed working on it back in the day, but {MUTE} isn't something I plan on touching again, not for a long time-- if ever.

But... wow. It's been ten years since it started, and five since it ended. I feel... rather nostalgic right now, what with everything that this comic was and what it wound up becoming. {MUTE} was a pretty substantial chapter in the story of my life... but gosh, I wouldn't change it for the world. So here's to another five years of me making comics, and who knows? Maybe another five after that! We'll just have to wait and see where the wind takes me.
