Reidy and Friends' Showcase

Reidy and Friends' Showcase

A general spriting/art showcase where pretty much anyone can post anything they want, barring porn. Maybe. Probably.
We also try to be civil whenever possible, so don't go out of your way to piss people off. Other than that just sit back, relax, and enjoy the showcase. Polite C+C encouraged, most people are posting to try and improve their work.

You should have experience spriting and/or drawing before applying to join, should you want to. We don't accept recolors and are very much against sprite thieves.
Please PM Reidy on here about joining.

Accepting Author Applications

We welcome both spriters and artists, but you must be better than a recolor. We'd also appreciate it if you take and give critique with an open mind. To apply, either use the application system or send a PM to Reidy. BE SURE TO INCLUDE AN EXAMPLE OF YOUR WORK SO WE DOESN'T HAVE TO DIG AROUND FOR IT. That annoys us and generally makes it less likely that we'll let you in. We're lazy. So sue us.

@Royle McCulloch: No, the earring on her ear. It seems a bit flat and small, it should wave alongside the wind current. I.e. A flag on a windy day.
@Snurple-the-Hedgehog: You mean the fur? I've already made a new one where the fur is being influenced as well.
I'd recommend making that hair tassel of hers wave alongside the wind current as well to make it more clear too
.
@Smiffy SMF <3: Yeah thats true. Good thing this isn't final render.
shouldnt the effects of the rock hitting go around her body

Honestly, it's not 100% up to my standards of quality, but I really wanted to give y'all SOMETHING for the holidays. I'll be updating this project a lot in the future, fixing some sprites, adding more.

Now I'm sure you're wondering what the heck this is. Folks, welcome to a sprite project I've been working on for awhile now: The 4Shades Sonic Advance Project!

Over the years, many of us in the Sonic Advance spriting community have moved away from the original style of the games. Namely, we're use more colors, and colored outlines.

This is all well and good, but this leaves the original sprites behind, and should they be used side-by-side, they feel rather out of place.

The goal of this project is ultimately to bring the original Sonic Advance sprites in line with the expanded-palette / colored outline style. When I am done, this should include Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy, and Cream. Why these five? Because they're the five main characters in the Sonic Advance games, silly!

Every body part now has its own unique palette, even if they're the same color (i.e. you can recolor the socks and the gloves independently now). And if I did it right, you shouldn't be able to tell the difference between them without saving the image, opening it up in an image editor, and using the color picker.

No seriously, please do that. I want you to appreciate my handiwork.

I'm also including the Sonic Battle sprites as well, but they're a bit more unwieldy to do, due to significant stylistic differences between Sonic Battle and the Sonic Advance games. I'll be doing my best regardless.

And yeah, I know Sonic's eyelids are sometimes blue and sometimes tan, that's one of the first things I intend to fix. At the very least, it's interesting to note that they're tan in Sonic Advance and Sonic Advance 2, and blue in Sonic Battle and Sonic Advance 3.

I am also aware that this project will make recolors easier to make, but I don't really care. If people wanna make recolors, let them make recolors, I say. Meanwhile, these sprites are going to be very useful for me.

So yeah, hope you enjoy!

@Shard: scarves are super inconspicuous

But whatever, they're clearly not fashion-minded. They can suffer in their drab attire.
@WiispNightmare- Aesthetic
(also the others figured 'Stuff that's easy to hide and inconspicuous so it won't be easily found and used by the wrong hands')
Okay but like Silvena didn't answer my question and neither did you??
Why? A scarf??
And more importantly???
Why were the others not bowties or tophats or capes or sCARVES?????
Further art that has been drawn, of a bunch of characters, most of whom I one day realized "I... need designs for these guys that don't have them all wearing the same exact fluffing outfit..." and then others who I went "the only reference I have for these guys is in a picture with someone else" and then others still who I went "I never actually finished a reference for this person go figure" and then others still who were done at the behest of someone else, and then others others still who it's like "I should re-draw this horse."

...so yeah, more art from me. Yay?
Congrats Niv!

My questions were obviously the best questions.
