If anybody came upon this page randomly, I think they would be really confused with that first panel. xD
Julien is quite conniving. I don't know if I fully trust his character even if he's trying to protect Lawrence. Maybe he's more of the twisted/tough love type of guy. :p

@Rosie: Lawrence is stuck there until he agrees to share blood with Madalina, but Julien is explaining why he deceived Lawrence into coming to the council. Basically, so he'd be stuck there and not be able to see Beth. And thank you, glad you are enjoying the comic :3!
@Kcici: Yeah he is conniving and Lawrence will accuse him of that by using the exact same word :D! Julien doesn't want to care for Lawrence, especially since he knows how much Lawrence loathes and hates him (and we'll learn more about this later in the story), so he often is in denial about his feelings. He's just in denial, like " I'm protecting you, but look how I treat you. I don't care about you one bit!".
Julien isn't the nicest guy out there, that's for sure, but his behavior is also linked to him being in denial and his insecurities. We will learn more as the character develops :).

Great story by the way! I'm really enjoying the plot lines and of course the art! :)
