BlackBlade Rising

The BlackBlade- containing the souls of the warriors known as the Ends sealed inside when they last tried to overthrow the Emporer. A sword that can give power to the user, at a price.

Taidide, Sakuya and Hirota are training samurai at the Fire Dojo. Their lives are changed forever because of the BlackBlade. Each of them has a story of their past, and each of them will make a story of their future. Join them as they try and stop the Ends- as well as each other.

Rated Teen for violence, blood, some gore (they're sword fighting after all! :D), occasional random curses, etc. If I start to decide to pick up the level on these things, then i'll change the rating. But right now, it should be fine for you little kiddies to read :D

I posted this from my phone, so I hope the sizing is ok. This is still remaining on hiatus for a little bit, but I'm still working on the story. I've decided that I might end up continuing this in it's original format for now. There are a lot of things that have to so with it being in Japan that I dont want to get rid of just yet. Eventually when the comic is done, I might end up hanging it and rewriting but for now, I'll probably keeping it as it is.

Seven warriors named after seven ways of dying? Very cool. Kinda reminds me of Full Metal Alchemist and the Seven Deadly Sins (Greed, Lust, etc...)

I REALLY like the bottom left panel. Keeping his eyes out of the frame really makes it more intense.

Mm. I like how the earth crack extends out of the panel.

@Loom: I think I'll take that advice and darken Tai in that third panel.

@Vervain: It actually isn't a cloud brush, I think it's a mixture of me erasing tone and a grain brush. Yeah I'm going to darken that third panel when I can.

Yeah, they've got to share the chores. Today happens to be Taidide's turn. :)

The light looks a it like a stretched cloud brush, but it.. it does the job enough I think. It's not that bad. I agree with loom that back shading would help in that panel.

..That'd suck, having to get up in the morning and go out in the cold to fill a bucket with water = =~

@Some_unkown_dude: I tried that. I probably should have kept with it but it still just didn't look right to me. Ah well, maybe I'll go back and edit it one day, maybe not.

I'm backkkk. Sorry for being so late, but now finals are over! I'm gonna try and keep up with updates but work is now starting up everyday, so I can't promise anything, but I am not abandoning this comic!

That third panel is terrible, I can't seem to get that effect, even after referencing from manga pages. Ah well, hah. The plot should be picking up soon so stay with me :p

@Oblivion12: Mhm, taken into consideration, I'm going to start flipping earlier pages and see what I think.

@P!K and Vervain: Thank you, you guys have been really helpful. I think I'm going to go with the left to right scheme. I'll start flipping the beginning pages and see what I think and then ask everyone what they think.

I don't do it 'cause the Japanese do it' I only did it because it was what I was used to. I was never a reader of American comics so the left to right scheme for comics never really topped the manga right to left. So I kinda just did it that way. Now for the ease of the American readers I might just flip it. I think it should be fine flipped as long as I do it right haha.

Create in the way that you feel is most natural for you to draw in. If it's easier to go one way over another, then do that, because the panel flow and art will more often than not work better than if you're giving into popular demand, or conforming.

...but as a personal thing, I'm with everyone else, I like to read english manga from left to right. English is presumably your first language, so it wouldn't be too difficult for you to switch. But then, that's my take on it.
