Once Upon a Calamity

Once Upon a Calamity

by JitterbugJive
Once upon a time,
there were wonderful stories. These stories were known and loved by all, and passed down over the generations. Children would gather round and listen in excitement and fascination as each storybook was opened and read aloud to them. Stories of magic, princesses, heroes, girls in capes and the big bad wolf. Stories of friendship, love and important lessons for life.

But tonight, this storyteller holds these wonderful storybooks, covered in blood stains and tears. And now, these books shall be opened, and you are the children who eagerly await the new tales of horror.

Currently being told:
The Three Little Pigs

Completed:
The Velveteen Rabbit

Tales to be told:
The Spider and the Butterfly (original story)
The Little Red Hen
The Tortoise and the Hare
The Gingerbread Man
Alice in Wonderland
The Ugly Duckling
The Frog Prince
Little Red Riding Hood
Rapunzel
Cinderella
The Sandman
The Cat Came Back
Clockwork (original story)

Forewarning:
These tales contain gore, violence, horror, and tragedy. Read at your own risk.

The first one was my real answer.
@The_mad_one: and then putting her fingers in her mouth, lol
Playing with mud. Lol.
That girl, especially, doesn't need her hand held anymore.
This is the most boring page ever, I apologize
I actually put a lot of thought in to the designs of the 3 pigs. The older they are, the darker the shade of 'pink' they wear, so that the oldest wears red to indicate her maturity. They also all have pigtails and curls in their designs, and of course some kind of pig accessory somewhere on them.
Velveteen Rabbit was a slow burn to show you what the theme of the comic is

But now that you know, you don't need your hands held any more.
Phew! Now that Velveteen Rabbit is out of the way, we can move on to a much more recent chapter! Velveteen Rabbit was sketched all the way back in 2008, it's SUPER old and there are a lot of things I would have done differently.
So, hopefully this shift in art and storytelling style will re-kindle some interest in this project.
My heart...TT-TT
@The_mad_one: I mean I guess if you want to take everything literally sure
Charity doesn't bring happiness.
Old faces are miserable.
Finders keepers.
Being born without a face sucks.
If you've painted all the colours, you don't need your eyes anymore.
@The_mad_one: in weird metaphorical plushie cat land, yes
"The painter had painted all the colors so he no longer needed his eyes."

Oh. Is that how it works...
Now... What does this story say to you?
Intermission
A short intermission between chapters. This is a short psychological children's book style story.
What it means is all dependent on who is reading it.
~Words of the Storyteller~
And so ends our first tale. But the pages only get worse from here.

Dare you children sit and stay for the rest?

Check out this dub of the comic on youtube!

And thus our little rabbit left reality almost as quickly as he found it.
Real
No one knows how cruel reality really is until they have to face it.
Welp.
