Daidalos Syndrome

by Niladhevan
A robot talks about love, trust and death. Perhaps he has been taught much more about it than any other human being from this not so distant future. Perhaps he is just broken, infected by the notorious "DAIDALOS Syndrome"...

Sketchy comic, become slightly better after page one. Bromance floating around Chapter 2. Strange english.

@Niladhevan: HEART BROKEN

EXACTLY THAT: "robots being human, and men like machines" -- the ultimate paradox, and crux of the ethical debate going on in your comic *O* i'm loving how you're introducing and exploring this topic, alongside the themes of humanity and love and social justice. So well-paced, so well-timed. Just. Perfection in the making *O*

And ED-N's sadness being reflected in his human creator -- because the creator has begun his descent into the hatred of mankind's flaws, their inherent hypocrisy and resulting hypocritical system. And ED-N can only watch as it unfolds, and retain the picture-perfect memories of his creator before he was falling, when he was still happy, even as he remembers with picture-perfect clarity that descent into madness

augh

and that line at the end
the master asking it's creation
"do you love me?"
seeking reassurance of his humanity even as he asks a non-human that could probably not answer differently
sob
sobbing forever

@Niladhevan: ahhHHhHhhh FEELS TAT flashback feeeels

these memories
they show how much ED-N cared for his creator -- he's idealized, even in his picture-perfect android memory -- because even at his creator's lowest you can see him smile fondly and lovingly, at ED-N -- writing ED-N's name on the wall -- ED-N choses to focus on his creator rather than the room around him, only his face, his sad eyes -- and the reason for his downspiral into hopelessness.

also, on a side note, I love the momentary creepy factor of how ED-N is stored and charged at night -- even "at rest" his eyes are always focused on his creator, being there for him. It makes the future -- where his creator has gone -- all the sadder, and more excruciating. It really drives in the difference between the present-day ED-N who is disheveled and broken and lost, and the flackback ED-N, who was neatly trimmed and aware at all times.

And, finally, FUCK YES PHILOSOPHY. "the state of nature" and the development of the systems of human government from nothingness... before that, in that nothingness -- 'perfect anarchy'. Is ED-N's creator hinting at his future terrorist attack? Did he do that attack as an attempt to regress the state of nature back to the starting point, so government can begin anew once more -- a so called "refresh" or "restart button"...?

@Niladhevan: ED-N!!! What an appropriate and fantastic name. Because it's the impossibility humans strive for, but were cast out from; this android that can feel human emotion (impossibility) but who is rejected for it (cast out). Fucking beautiful.

And a gorgeous flashback! ED-N is so beautiful! And his creator's line "Why, among all the feelings you're now able to express...did you chose sadness?" RIGHT IN THE FEELS
Why indeed? Does the overwhelming sadness of the reality of the human condition cripple him? ;_____;

I am loving the narration and placement of dialogue so far. Very smooth-flowing, very consistent, and very effective. Fffffff T3T

(also, fuck yeah more ungaretti!)

@Niladhevan: FUCK YESSSS i love that quote i love that quote!!! it's so appropriate, and sets the mood for later pages -- and it keeps with the philosophical theme that I presume will echo throughout the comic! AND apparently you're bringing it back later? YES PLEASE

also
inappropriate but still relevant
fucking hot android you have there *U*

@Niladhevan: BAHAHAHAHA! "blue screen of death"!! XDD I love this, too -- perfect timing to introduce a comedic page!! because, not only does it relieve tension (while also cleverly retaining it for the future, because it still hasn't been resolved), it also is a nice chapter break! leaves you in suspense but satisfied and amused, and ready for more *U*

@Niladhevan: !!!! the appearance of the "Omkara" symbol *O* And the revelation of what the black-haired robot's master has done -- and what this revelation causes the robot --

fahsjtakjhf FEELS T____T
"file 062855.dtv broken."
*MAKES HOWLING NOISES* DDDD:

You gave a beautiful representation of what happens to a person when they hear something shocking and heartbreaking, computing-style. And I love that little line, before the error -- "It's alright. I trust you."

FUCKING FEELS, MAN *O*

I can't -- I've just barely met these characters and I'm already aching for them, for them ALL --

because we have two sides of the story; the android whose memory should be flawless but seems to be corrupted, and the human who seems to be saying the truth but humans can lie.

who's right? who's wrong?
ahahskjthaj ethics and philosophy and already unreliable narrators
I LOVE IT

@Niladhevan: FUCKKK THIS PAGE OH MY GOD
I love love LOVE that it's initially an idyllic memory the robot has in his databanks -- watching his master work, his code reading "good master" (FAHKSJTHKJAS THE CODE <33 what a fucking awesome detail!) -- and then Glasses comes in and says, no, your memory is wrong, he was a bad person -- and the memory data starts messing up, cracking up -- and the code starts spewing out ERROR ERROR ---

ahhhhh, this is so cinematographic, I swear I can see this unfolding before my eyes!! *O*

in additional detail, i LOVE how you've paid so much attention to every panel. there's grain on the memory, like a video (as a hazy robot memory should be), and then all these little computer visual data like the select-zoom-circle and the coordinate line thing *WHAT IS LANGUAGE*

BASICALLY, FLAILING, BOWING TO YOUR AWESOMENESS, WANT MORE *O*

@Niladhevan: WOW! And here we get to a new interesting development -- apparently going against, I presume, the robot law of "robots must not harm humans", our subject suffers a minor malfunction, shown physically on his face. *FLAILS* THIS IS AWESOME! Because if so, then all the other cracks on his face symbolize all the other humans he has potentially hurt. What history his face shows, then!

And I love the hint here of new, interesting developments -- so our monotonous robot friend has been modified by Glasses? (need to learn their names!) And apparently Glasses thinks that's OK, but does not think the modifications done on the black-haired robot is OK... *U* loving ittttttt

@Niladhevan: First things first: TOTALLY digging the concepts you're juggling here. I love that the first conflict that pops up is robots vs humans, because this opens up a huge realm of philosophy and ethical questions. "what is human?" "is it all right to treat something that mimics humanity this way, even if they're not 'real'?" "what is the line between human and robot, in this advanced futuristic world?"

Hello ! ^^ I hope you'll enjoy this new page. Thank you everyone for your support ! *_*

I feel sorry to put Rousseau's philosophy in such a nutshell, but the main goal here was to show how Damurah starts to feel hopelessness. Of course the "State of Nature" has never existed and shall never exist, and I'm pretty sure Damurah is clever enough to know that it would make no sense.
Rousseau is not the one who invented this concept either, I'm just taking into account that many texts we may know nowadays could be lost/censored in those times.
Now I shut it up :D

(Next page will feature a cameo~ *evil laugh*)
