8 signed up on the Smackjanime site [retracted] and put it on their profile. Since then we've lost maybe three or four, but there are some potential animators who aren't on the site either.

I'll do everything in my power to animate, but I know a lot of us are busy.

If you're going for a big opening, I say just make it the first ten minutes-ish you were going to write anyway. Or just end it somewhere around there, wherever the story can afford to take a short break. If it goes well then we can make more episodes (or extend the pilot to be more like a full 20 minutes to half an hour). Tbh I really don't care much about structure. It could just as easily be a movie, or whatever. I'm just concerned in the beginning that we only commit to what we can do.

As soon as it hits the ground on screen music plays - Long Tall Sally by Little Richard. Pull back to see some sort of vehicle speeding along in the desert (easier to animate than jungle I suspect). Five guys are inside driving around wildly (except the driver - the ranking officer - who is wearing aviator shades and is perfectly relaxed), shooting at random stuff (bushes, birds, deer, whatever) for target practice. It's a lull in the action and they're wearing as little as possible. The sun is very bright and drowns out a lot of detail (high contrast, lots of yellow and white).

Me gusta. Will there be some huge interruption? Action, conflict? Or do we wait?

This is action. The audience has to be introduced to the problem first and we have to establish that the heroes are real badasses, like in Predator or Three Kings or something. We have to start somewhere cool.

Right now I have it set at a big city, kind of isolated, like the only real city in some unidentified highland, arid country, in summer. I can move it to pretty much any environment that's not cold because the colder it is the more clothes the heroes have to wear and the more they wear the less muscles we see and the less tough and sexy they look.

I drew some random people the other day so I posted them here [retracted], but now I'm in a background sort of mood. Let's try some of these out...also lol about the muscles. I'm practicing anatomy something fierce, but I know it's not everyone's forte.

Um... for the names you should choose actual names, and just have people call them prick or punk as a nicname if they've come to know those characters for that type of personality.
as per story, it might be more fun and dramatic if the war ends up effecting them by turning their city into a warzone. when that happens, people scramble into things. this allows us to totaly mess with the characters because they're suddenly joining something they have no experience with because their lives now depend on it. this way, they dont have reason to be prepared.

Someone gets fatally wounded and there's this long scene trying to save him but he dies anyway. The guy who tries to save him doesn't realise it but he is fatally wounded too and also dies.

can we kill him off with a shot to the head, or slowly, like having a mine blow up nearby because of someone who was rushing to help? then they could bleed out~
urbanmysticdee is right that no one will care about something that starts before the war. i know i wouldnt, and im a sucker for war stories. we do need more characters, but we could do the brothers thing until theyve managed to stumble all the way into becoming soldiers in a squad. urban there is also right about america vs german, i love that stuff.

Okay okay okay Soooo.....
Prologuey thinger: Dramatic scene in which soldiers are dying and this and that and calling for reinforcements but they aren't arriving. Some sort of internal thought from a soldier, kind of like dropping an F word or have him think just how badly they really need those reinforcements.
Brothers go on a school trip to Germany which they don't realize is headed for what will eventually be a war ground. It's the next day and, on the plane, there's a TV program explaining how the war is progressing for the very few that might be listening. Guys land in Germany and get settled and have an awesome day as we supply the readers with hidden soldiers or shady-looking people. When the sun isn't even up yet for the next day, all hell breaks loose.

i think it's kinda cute, gets it started like a movie since I saw a 100 min suggestion. What do you guys think? This type of setting lands them in Germany early [some schools have travel clubs] and the attack would basically be a surprise one for the most part because the soldiers in the city would most likely be laying low and not know that they were caught on to, bringing the battle to them.
