Spotify

Postby H0lyhandgrenade » August 12th, 2009, 8:41 am

Okay, so... I don't know if this is the right place for this, and equally I don't know if this is something everyone else was already aware of and I was late to catch on. But either ways the other day I heard about this great site and wanted to share it because I think it's just... so good.

http://www.spotify.com/en/

Basically it's free music. You download the program and then you can practically listen to any song you want, no download time. And I mean practically any, there's a huge amount on there. There's the odd one that the artist has requested not to be allowed but that's pretty rare. It's all completely legal too. The catch is that you can't put it on your ipod or anything, but I listen to most of my music from the computer anyway so that's cool for me. Oh and there's like... a short advert every now and then but thats not much bother.

Feels weird advertising it like this, but I just thought other people might be interested :D

EDIT: Ah... I know it's available in the UK, but anywhere else I'm not sure about.

If you're sharing music websites, ima' throw this one in the pot.

http://beemp3.com/

I usually use this website if I can't find a song, they have some pretty damn obscure stuff.
The loading time is fast too, for me at least (though I question it's legality).
And unlike Spotify, you don't have to sign up. ~

Hm, I like the web design to your site though, it's somehow- very sleek.

Spotify is not legal in the U.S.

and there's a rule against posting links to illegal services like beemp3.

Looks like somebody needs some Just-FIST

Especially the unjust whilst I'm around.

Heck I'm a girl too but I don't mind. Being punched by Batman... That'll be something to tell the grandkids about.

I know posting links to illegal services is against the rules, sorry, I didn't know Spotify wasn't legal in the US. Only knew it was fine in the UK.

Okay, Batman. I'm sorry. I was unsure of the status of it's legality.

Well Spotify is soooo legal in Sweden (where it was created yo), I use it all the time. Why isn't it legal in the US? I mean, American labels have even agreed to put their music on there and stuff.

What impresses me most about Spotify is that they block access to places where it's not legal. That gets thumbs up from me, even though I have no idea what the rest of the site looks like. Checkmark!

Says on Wiki they're planning on making it available in the US like by the end of this year.

Lifehacker had a blog a few days back explaining the legal bits and regionalization on it.

Wikipedia also said the elephant population in Africa had tripled. Wikipedia is not a reliable source.
