Has this been done?

Postby will.15 » August 18th, 2009, 1:08 pm

I have a high concept idea for a story, but i suspect there may already be a story or stories using this concept. If so, I probably won't try to develop a story from it. Here's the idea: A story that involves both the Alice in Wonderland universe and the Oz universe. Has that been done?

Yes.

Well, it depends on how do you plan to make it.

Yes, in a comic book called Lost Girls where they discover their sexuality.

And also a webcomic called Chesire Crossing, which is horrible.

This is what a very quick search on Google turned up. It's been done, more than once.

Ha ha, wow. An efficient response.

I totally owned an issue of Captain Carrot and His Amazing Zoo Crew!! I wonder if it's still hanging around my folks' house.

A slight cross over also occours in Stephen King's The Dark Tower series.

Oh, geez. I shouldn't be surprised. I was obliged to read The Gunslinger a month ago when a friend loaned it to me. It was the only Stephen King book I'll ever read. Yuck.

I remember the Oz reference, but not the Alice in Wonderland one. Clearly, it's been far too long since I read the books. ):

EDIT: Josta, you are a bad person D: Those are some of my favourite books ever.

Stick with the series man, it picks up a lot and gets insanely awesome for about three books straight, after which it drops off and never really recovers. But don't let it turn you off King forever either. He's a strange and sometimes very inconsistent author. I would recommend starting with something like Salem's Lot or The Bachman books. Though I presonally started on The Stand .

EDIT: Imi, one books their is some talk of the Crimson King being a relation or something of The Red Queen. But its been awhile so I'm not clear on the details. I also forget to mention: in one book they fight a giant fucking cyborg bear that's also a god and thousands of years old. yeah, still say "yuck"?

I knew it would be something obvious, to the extent that I spent several minutes staring at it trying to figure it out before looking stupid. Thanks.
