How does one become a mod?

Postby Jesus lizard » August 19th, 2009, 5:54 pm

I've always had this question burning in the back of my skull.

How does a member become a mod?

Do the current mods vote her/him in?
Does the main admin review that person and make the decision?

How?
Unban Jesus lizard. His ban was frivolous and unjust.

You could ask some of the mods, they'd be able to tell you how they got chosen. But the problem is, that there are currently not any mods here. If we needed them so badly, Admin would go around looking for one, and he would pick people suitable for the job. You know, people who are active in the forums, follow the rules well, and people that generally respected by the whole SJ community. You're probably never going to be a mod, but if you want to be one so badly, participate more in the forums and Admin may notice you.

I suppose that the community might vote for a mod, but it's mostly the decision of Admin.

Does anyone here happen to have contact with one of the mods for the old forums? I've been on this website for a while, possibly since late 2007/early 2008, but I lost the account info. I don't think I was around if we ever got a new mod, or didn't notice.

I've seen Cutething on the forums at Friend Codes.

Only saw her once though.
None to nice to me either. ;__;

Dan says "Wanna be a mod?" and you respond to him by saying "Yes." The key part is that it isn't followed by Dan saying "Ha ha, too bad, screw you!" If you want a more detailed description of how he chooses, there's already another mod-related thread active right now if you look through the list of topics where your question's already been answered.

Many people here have contact with mods from the old forums, and in fact quite a few of them post here on a semi-regular basis.
