So is it going to regrow and eat your cat in retaliation?

I believe in your plant! During winter months, they can lose their trap leaves and even withstand fires so long as the central bulb is healthy. My small colony survived several Virginia winters in a ground-level planter box and even being under a foot of snow before succumbing to a dry summer and squirrels. The second (or was it third) generation has given me a flower its first year outdoors. It looks as if your flytrap may already be several discrete plants, as they tend to divide over time. Is it going to winter outdoors? I had to construct a metal cage around the carnivore planter to stop the tree rats from digging them up to bury nuts.

You and I both.

It's a good place to be, though.

I joined because one of my friends had a comic on here at the time and I thought the whole concept of webcomics seemed really cool. I started my own series but I felt overwhelmed (and embarrassed by the low quality)after about two months and deleted it. But I like reading a lot of the stuff on here and the community in the forums is nice so I stayed.

Pretty much the majority of the actives on this side of the forums joined and contributed/created the most actively discussed threads across the forum entirely, myself included. I originally made this thread as a plug for the "comic" I was trying to push when I used to think I was hot shit, but this ended up being a thread this forum really needed, as there really wasn't anywhere else to casually share a discussion that didn't warrant a new thread. It's grown up with this forum as I grew up with it as well.

Yes. I am training it from its infancy to be the most efficient killer this world has ever seen. So far it still sits there despite me being a firm father.

I think gluecks was wondering (as was I) why so many of us joined up that year specifically. I guess we hit the sweet spot of still being interested in the medium, and social media sites like tumblr/twitter weren't as huge yet so people were still joining messageboards. Just odd that we're all still here and fairly active- not that there's tons of us (maybe a dozen? i can't check member stats atm) but that it's so concentrated in that year.

Are we all in about the same age bracket-ish? I was in my third year of undergrad when I signed up.

I joined in 2010 and I can only speak for myself. I had a comic online for two years that was getting pretty much nowhere and I was told that a feature that could help would be "previous/next" buttons, so I went to Google to find other comics looking for HTML for these buttons and this was the first result. I looked around and I figured that it would be a lot easier just to join this site than to try to reverse engineer buttons, and that's how I got here. I joined out of laziness.

2010 was me spending all the time at work that I should be spending working browsing the forums instead. Good times ;)
