Juggling Webcomics

Postby Omega001 » October 19th, 2009, 8:31 am

I am working on 2 webcomics and I got ideas for more. But I don't think I can handle it,
this is aimed to those who have tons of webcomics. I want to here how you're coping.

Speaking as someone who can't even manage to keep one comic going at a time, but more as somebody who reads comics... you will be better off putting your focus and energy into one good comic rather than doing lots at the same time. Quality over quantity.

*cough* Your signature is over the size limit, please resize to less than or equal to 700x200 px wide, thanks *cough*

Yeah, you don't need new comics. Try to stick with one, or maybe put all your ideas together into the comic you currently run and try to keep that one fresh and afloat.

How this classifies as a life issue, I'll never know.

Oh, I forgot which forum I was posting on.

Also, less trollishly, he's asking about time management and coping mechanisms, which are often referred to as "life skills". I also can't really see a more appropriate place to post it, the only other board that vaguely fits is the "Help Desk", and that really isn't aimed towards this kind of question.

I always make sure to work on only one comic, so if I get bored with one, I delete it, no matter how many comics or fans it has, and make a new one. Just don't want to feel any pressure.

That's kind of a big "F U" to the fans of the old comic. No one says if you have a comic up you HAVE to update it forever and ever and ever. Plenty of comics on this site are over, but they stay up...you know, so people can read them and enjoy them?

I left a comic I quit up for a fair while but I got sick of seeing it and accidentally clicking the link to manage it and not another comic so I eventually deleted it.. u_u i felt bad but i wanted to move on from the comic.

I know, I have a finished comic, well, I continued it as a different comic, But webcomics is the only thing I do besides sleep and education.
I love it, and I know you all do too. I completed most of my videos games to the best I can, and I look at the page views and think, "God, there love it".
This is the only thing for me now.

I think I can do an extra few, I'm that dedecated, or to other people, that lame.

I juggle two webcomics by only scheduling a page a week on each one and working a few weeks ahead in case something comes up. Which it often does as I have three kids. Both comics have been going for over a year now and have a good fan following as I haven't missed a week. They have both been Spotlighted here and featured on the Drunk Duck site. It requires focus, but of course you can do it! Just plan ahead and stay obsessed with your work like the rest of us :D

I've never been able to do it. My time management skills are terrible and I can barely focus my efforts on one.
