A very belated "Yay!"

I finally pulled the trigger; I'm going to be participating in NaNoWriMo this year! I'm pumped.

August has been a challenging month, but I have some little things to be grateful for.

Today I looked at how much my bills are going to be over the next several months while I'm unemployed. I decided I have enough wiggle room to pay down some of my student loan debt. I didn't make a huge dent in it, but I took a chunk off the loan with the highest debt and highest interest tier. Like I said, not a huge impact but it made me feel a little better.

And my interchangeable circular knitting needles I ordered arrived today, so I can start moving on to more "challenging" projects such as sweaters and so forth.

What else. I sketched my comic last night for the first time in ages. It took 30 mins to just do some head closeups and panel outlines but better than nothing and it wasn't as much of a chore as I expected it would be.

We are also in the process of getting rid of a lot of clutter in our house/basement particularly. I didn't get rid of much, but threw out some garbage and also came across some stuff I will take with me when my boyfriend and I get a place together (probably next summer).

I'm looking forward to things mostly. I'm starting to feel more in control of what is going on. It's sad that it took a tragedy to get most of this stuff going but I guess that's just how it goes sometimes.

The only reason I haven't is because I use Messenger to communicate with folks back home. That's about it. It was great while it was just a way to connect with friends, but it's become an animal. Seriously debating deleting mine.

I was originally just going to vacuum, but went on a huge cleaning/decluttering spree. Moved/got rid of knick knacks that were just collecting dust, packed away some books I don't want on my shelves right now, eliminated enough drawer clutter that I was able to move all of my markers into my under-desk drawers and get rid of the tower of drawers that was taking up space next to my desk. Also put my printer out at the curb- the scanner still works but the printer hasn't functioned properly in years, either way somebody picked it up. I'm a little worried about that only because now I have to go downstairs to the family scanner to scan anything, but it's not like that's something I do every day anyway.

Point is I got rid of a lot of visual stress and dust. I'm not 100% done yet, as there's always that one remaining box of "not sure where this goes," not to mention everythign that needs to get packed away actually has to- you know- get packed away. But I'm feeling much more at peace and could actually light incense in here without worrying anything was going to catch on fire  I hope I've made enough improvement that I'll feel motivated to keep it this way. Once I got started, I wanted to make sure I had it done in time for the school year. So yeah, woot :) May take pics soon and necropost in the "your workspace" thread.

Ran my first official 5K in five years the other day! It was about 95 and more humid than dog's breath, and my hip was getting sore near the end, but I still pulled a 27:51. Also, my framework for my NaNoWriMo project is coming together. Yay!

Congratulations, mitchellbravo! :D

I tended to my succulents today, started some propagation with a few of them. I also felt kind of good during my walk today (my anxiety lately has me scared of leaving home but today I felt decent). Now I'm working on our comic, for the first time in weeks I feel like I have the time. I hope this week will be a good one.

Is there anything you're not certified to do, Hank?

I haven't completed parachute rigging school yet, but once I do, I'll let you know. ;)

Few things rival the elation I feel when someone new gets excited about my comic. That feeling, both in the past and the possibility of feeling it more in the future, is what keeps me going even when I feel invisible to the world.
