Is anyone into this comic? It's not really serious, but it's a fun little manga about becoming a mangaka. Eiji is the best character <3

I started reading it because everyone was like ZOMG ITS SO GOOD and I liked Death Note, but...
.. I was disappointed. I didn't read much but the start bored me. I recalled someone saying how funny it was when, in the manga they reference the artist or something. When I got to that bit it failed to make me laugh. Rather, it sounded kind of.. pig headed to me..
Maybe it gets better later on. I don't know. But what I read wasn't good enough to hold my interest.

I really like it. I don't know about others, but I did find it funny. Of course you would be disappointed if you start reading it with Death Note in mind, because Bakuman is nothing like it (only the art).
Anyway, I also like it because it contains a lot of useful info for a mangaka wanna-be (like myself heh >.<). In fact, I really wished it had appeared sooner, because there were stuff I never even though of, and so it would have been handy. Well still better late than never.
That said, I recommend it to anyone who shares the dream of becoming a pro mangaka. It's really helpful. ^_^

Stupidest thing ever.

But yeah, Bakuman?...Never heard of it. I'll look into it more now. TO WIKIPEDIA!

...Fascinating. Original. Interesting characters. Hmm...I'll give it a shot!

Totally agree with that. It's the new naruto for the kids who are 10 and 11 right now. You know, the same crappy voices, bright headed kids and is popular with all the little boys? When I was in elementary school, I remember some of the 9-13 year olds were obsessed with the show. My younger sister who is going into grade seven next year says that all of the 9-13 year olds are obsessed with bakugan.
All the characters have practically the same face in bakugan as they did in naruto...
*shudders*
I read the first chapter of bakuman, it's pretty good, I like how logical the author is and how there are a lot of interesting points that was put in the manga. It's probably just personal experience.

Can anyone recommend a manga where it's mostly logic, and not like romance that is put in the story. Like Death Note and Bakuman? I want to read more of those.

I'm going to finally put up my webcomic Second Generation and it's gonna be that kind of story. Well, with some romance and a touch of friendship/war/politics jumbled together.

Liar Game is probably up your street then. All about psycology and manipulation.

Urfff... I dunno, the series kind of bugs me but then again, the writer of Death note just... bugs me. Like his/her ideas are pretty good and they start out with such promise, then they just die out. like the whole "I KNOW THAT YOU KNOW THAT I KNOW THAT YOU KNOW" kinda thing, this series is kinda like that.

Also, I just cant stand the fact that the author is very... Sexist in a way? Like all her female characters are so... despicably unfortunately bad, or started out okay then turned worse.

++++SPOILERS++++

-Misa (death note) - Smart girl, very clever, a romantacist. I really liked her in the beginning but when she began dating light and became his tool, she went from smart devious and loving girl to a total air-headed, obsessive border-line stupid character. I really do like her though, and feel so bad that a promising female turned to crap so fast.

-Takeda (death note)- wasn't very important, but had her merits for being smart and just. She is then twisted to stupidity,
arrogance and light worshipping retardedness.

-Wedy (death note) Supah thief, dies unceremoniously with a death mentioned in 1 panel.

-Sayu (Death note) Light's sister. Happy, sweet, caring little sister who is rendered completely useless and is used as a pawn for kidnapping. Would have been interesting if she carried on being a threat to light, almost blowing his cover or something in the beginning, but she just phases out playing as the sister who adores light and worships him too.

Rem (Death note)- Shinigami. Met a sticky end thanks to Light.

-Hal Lidner (Death note) Super CIA woman, becomes overpowered by a wimpy Mello who's half her height and becomes a tool pretty much to both Mello and Near.

-The FBI Lady (Death note) awesome character, smart, clever, determined, good drive and motive since her husband got killed. Had a huge build up to be an important character. Foolishly and easily got tricked by Light. She had so much potential but her dead body wasn't even found.

-Shujin's gf Miyoshi (Bakuman) - Upbeat and tries hard. I like her as a character, wish the protagonists actually took her seriously more. Has huge boobs which is always frequently commented on. Pretty much fan service.

-The super smart girl who likes SHujin- An arrogant biatch.

-Saiko's love interest Miho- She's like a wall flower with no personality what-so-ever.

-Aoki (nakai's partner and the writer of Hideout door)- Two faced, arrogant, even when her issues were pretty much resolved, she's still questionable and shifty.

Oh oh, and lets not forget the best line. I'M GOING TO FOLLOW MY DREAMS AND BECOME A MANGAKA, A WOMAN LIKE YOU (his mother) WOULDN"T UNDERSTAND.

Pretty much summed it up for me, krazy. These are the very same reasons why I'm not a big fan of Death Note or Bakuman (art's nice, though). I love strong female characters, or females with some sort of character development and not rendered to useless moeblobs or whatever. That and Bakuman is just kinda ridiculously executed in its own way.

-Light and Saiko's mom- Most stereotypical mom's to begin with. Overshadowed ALWAYS by a male in the family. *Souichiro yagami, light's dad. And Saiko's uncle*

Rem (Death note)- Shinigami. Female shinigami, Met a sticky end thanks to Light.

-Hal Lidner (Death note) Super CIA woman, becomes overpowered by a wimpy Mello who's half her height and becomes a tool pretty much to both Mello and Near.

-Miho's mom- "That hot mom" woulda been an awesome character wasnt for the fact that she's portrayed kinda shallowy as "couldn't wait that long so off and married someone else" type.

-Aoki (nakai's partner and the writer of Hideout door)- Two faced, arrogant, even when her issues were pretty much resolved, she's still questionable and shifty.

All the boys are depicted as WONDERFULLY INTELLIGENT AND CREATIVE GENIUSES. ALL OF THEM. And the girls are like talented but stupid.
No strength, no backbone, and if they do they die. IT'S THE FATE FOR ALL WOMEN.
