Seeking Co-Author Status

Have a comic? Looking for co-authors? Update your profile to indicate so.

Looking for a webcomic to contribute to? The newly revamped Author Application page will help you to do so.

This is really, really awesome. I think a lot of users will find this feature incredibly useful, especially for those who don't venture onto the forums.

I was wondering what you think of putting a little image in the top right hand corner of (in this case) the Site-settings box, for two weeks or so, that just says "New" or "Updated." Just so users that haven't spotted the news or don't frequent the forums know there is something new available. Maybe even highlighting the new section with a colour for a set period of time, to help people know what new features are available to them; otherwise --and especially with this new feature-- users won't know about them and they will go largely unused. I know that for me it isn't much of an issue because I'm fairly active on both sides of the site; but I can very much imagine another user never finding a feature and missing out on something they might find useful.

Oh, awesome. Now all I have to do is to find this little button to apply to a certain comic, which I have found nowhere.

This will be helpful for a certain comic I am a part of.

Thanks!

I think this feature would be a little more useful if you could break down and define what you're actually looking for, and allow people to search based on what they're interested in doing.

For example, a black and white comic artist wants colour, but doesn't have time for it and is seeking a colourist. they check off a box or drop down a list, and voilà, people interested in colouring know exactly what to look for. It'd be helpful if some of those categories were things like 'writer' 'artist' 'web designer (will probably get a lot of use)' and even 'odd jobs' or 'all round collaborator' might be cool.

That might cut back on 12 year old collab kids' asking to join serious ventures. I've had more than a few people, in the past, who I had no idea who they were, apply to be part of my older comics with absolutely no indication of why. Just cause', I guess.

I do liike this new design... it'll help to know if an author comic's accepting applications now instead of going over the hassle of either asking or scrolling through the comics in case they forgot to mention it

How about a "Looking for..." field, where you simply describe what you're looking for?

It worked really well for me when I used it.
But I attempted to apply to a comic but for the moment they weren't looking for authors.
But in reality they were. My problem with this is that for the moment a lot of comics are looking for authors but they are yet to realize that, that is an option.
In truth I definitely prefer this to looking on the long list of comic names.

Also sorry for interrupting the conversation I didn't realize.
As for a looking for feature that could be quite helpful. Although wouldn't you just put that in a description?

How do you remove the Seeking Co author status? I can't seem to find it.

It's under the Authors section now, under Co-Author Settings.

Eh. I think it'd be better as some kind of shortcut or indicator, since people can forget to place the Co-Author thing up... And I don't really like bothering people for that.
