Hrm...After a day or so of using this design, I've come to a conclusion:

Frankly, I just don't like it.

I quite enjoyed the older one, it was simple and efficient. This one requires much too much horisontal scrolling, and it's really a pain on the eyes, in my opinion.

I'm still thinking that we should be able to switch between the designs we like, and I know this is quite possible, other sites do it all the time.

Just my two cents.

Less than a day you mean...

So far I've only got a few issues with it:
-I rather liked the idea of having the most recently updated comics being featured automatically on the front page (I fully realize that the list is just a click away, but i guess it's just what I'm used to). I can't see the sense in featuring the comics that are already the most popular or on the rise to popularity on the front page. I think lot of comics are going to go undiscovered due to this change.
-The same applies to the comic spotlight being placed at the top of the page. It's kind of disappointing to see that people have to pay for that privilege now.

But...

For the most part, I like it. You didn't change too much, and what you did change was mainly in appearances.

I feel the same way :( I updated today and got 1/5 of the pageviews I usually get when I update.

I'm a little discouraged but oh well... :\

Yeah, that's exactly what I was afraid would happen. One click can easily become an inconvenience for people, more people are probably likely to just not click and check up on the most recently updated comics now.
It also doesn't help that it's the last tab on there, as if it's the least important thing there. Just added shouldn't have to suffer from that, since it's an entirely different category than popular and spotlight comics. Those comics may not even update very often in the first place.
This is really the only big mistake I don't agree with, the other things I pointed out I can live with, they're just nitpicks, but this is something I rely on at times for my comics that aren't payed for.

Hm, one more nitpick, I know I've been posting a lot but I'm starting to agree with those saying the colors are a bit depressing. Blue is so overdone, and it's very plain and often associated with more buisinesslike websites. The red from before really showed what kind of community this was. Comics are often thought of as bright and colorful and in your face.
From a glance, most people wont think 'This is a comic site' when they look at it. It just doesn't show the spirit of what a comic is. Bolder colors would really give the fun comic feel to the site again, rather than this awkward consistent blue.
And with a name like smackjeeves, you'd think it would be a little more in your face, not subtle like it is now.

The design is great, but the color scheme could use some touch ups.

Honestly I feel like I'm on the firefox webpage. Like I said, blue is more of a company color.

I was right about this looking like a real webhosting provider. :D

And I don't really care about the most updated thing since I use automatic updates anyway. A lot of others probably do so it wouldn't have an effect on them, either. Leaving users finding our comics to choice is a lot better option to keep it all fair.

And if its bigger than before, then please trim it down, because there are people who still use an 800x600 screen resolution.

Sorry to bug, but although I do like the new look, the functionality seems a bit off, the non donator comics seem to get offset by the donator comics on almost every tab. Mostly the area of complaint is in the fact that the most recently updated isn't the first tab.

You know i wasn't sure if I'd like it, but it's a really sharp professional design! And now the forums match the front page! Are the rest of the generic comic template pages like this going to change too?

The site looks...SPECTACULAR! My head nearly exploded when I came here; I wasn't at all expecting it!

A little critique (I'm sure you staffers won't mind, and you can disregard):

When you first appear on the main page, the comic banners are out of site for most people. The emphasis is on joining. That's very grand and all, but it could be slimmed down, vertically-speaking, to keep it efficient for people who're already members (or, maybe you could hide that section for logged-in users). Shaving a few pixels off of the header or tabs or tables should work nicely...as for everything else...absolutely spectacular!

From what I've experienced so far on the site, here's what I've got to say.

The home page feels really busy in comparison to the old one, but I think this is something I could get used to. I haven't messed with that too much, so that's all I've got to say on that.

I like the comic profile pages much more now. Everything that you want to see is neatly packed onto the page and I don't have to scroll all the way down to find something.

I'm not fond of the set-up for favorites. It's very cluttered, and having to columns for different comics is just too much. I'd rather have to go through more pages than have something get lost in the crowd that is my favorites list.

Well, those are my first impressions. I'll add more thoughts as I come up with them I suppose.

I have to say I'm probably the only one that never reads the news, and when I logged in today it took me by surprise. I liked it more the way it was before but, hey, I need to get used to it.

Which reminds me, great idea about recent news of your favorite comics! Definitely makes the news section a total not waste of time like it was before. ('Cause, y'know, author comments could say the same thing)
