'Kay, I don't know what kind of sorcery you've used on me, but I am now playing Neverhood.

I am not a fan of 99% of Point-and-Click games. I am incredibly creeped out by 99% of Claymation, and yet after watching a bit of a Let's Play I found myself unable to resist the urge to play this and hunted down a download.

It's... Still pretty damn creepy. Klaymen and the other characters similar to him are so awesome and derpy, though, it makes it feel better to play. The creepiness of everything else around Klaymen just adds to the atmosphere in a weirdly awesome way. Like I can handle all the environmental creepiness since I love Klaymen and Willie so much.
As for why I enjoy the Point-and-Click side so much I can't even muster up an explanation.

It gets a lot weirder once you read everything on that wall. I found a txt file online, printed it off, and the story's pretty deep and crazy. The actual game's just scratching the entire storyline, the second one goes in a little deeper.

Yeah, I want to read the entire Chronicle, but I'm gonna find text version somewhere as well. I couldn't read past the first story in-game with all that damn scrolling up and down, haha.

Remember that you do have to traverse through the whole hall to beat the game.

Yeah, I already did. Unless you're saying there's a reason to go to the end again later, which would be brutal. I'm basically at the part where I just drained that lake. I've been playing it in bursts, so I don't really fly through it. That and as I said before Point-and-Clicks aren't really my forte, haha. I don't mind it, though. Even though I get stuck here and there the puzzles never get frustrating.

Nah, if you have the floppy already, you're good.

Anyway, wait until the end with the mouse puzzle. When I was a kid, that puzzle was my enemy. Took me days to beat it (I did not have Internet back then).

I know this wouldn't really fit with the other games, but Slender. Download it. It's free. I'm done here.

Now that I've finally beat it, ICO. ALL THE WAY. Now that it's bundled with Shadow of the Colossus HD, nobody has an excuse. They hardly qualify as obscure anymore.

Played it, it's hard, but not that scary. STALKER's far more scarier, especially once you upgrade the game (pretty much almost any major mod).

Yes and I am pissed off there is no sequel.

I want a PSN release, my copy is very screwy...

When I was a wee little lad, I actually wrote a letter to the developers, and let them know how much I loved the game, how much I wanted a sequel, and some little kid ideas.

I never heard back from them though :(

Since I'm nerding out on it again, I feel obligated to mention Gotcha Force in this thread. After all, I don't post in this thread enough considering my passion for obscurity and love of games that so few people know of.

  • Fun and speedy Custom Robo-esque gameplay. EDIT: Actually probably more like Virtual On-style, but you get the idea, and there's always YT gameplay.
  • About 200 different characters/"Borgs" to unlock and several variants of each one, including an alternate color palette.
  • EVERYTHING is unlockable sans the final boss, (legitimately that is. Still obtainable via glitch.) Getting attacked by a giant battleship or a massive Dragon? You'll have it one day.
  • 2-player co-op, and 1v1/1v2/2v2 versus.
  • So-bad-it's-funny voice-acting in the story mode. (Seriously, if you can laugh at the voice-acting it'll pretty much negate the one major flaw this game has.)
  • Awesome character designs and wild weapons;

It's pure, unleaded Capcom goodness and as cult classic as it gets. The game is incredible and all-around crazy addicting, yet pretty much everyone I know that plays it was introduced to it by me.
Now dig out your Gamecube gear and head out to your nearest used game store. More people should play thiiis~

Have you actually played it before or did I just sell you on it? Because Wii or no Wii you gotta hunt that game down.

I'm fucking sold. I have been waiting for a super nostalgiac GCN game that I always wanted to play or somehow otherwise missed out on/never heard of to come along and this looks to be it.
I actually have a growing list now.
Cubivore, Billy Hatcher, Chibi Robo, and now this.

I want that game so bad. SO BAD.

I got a functioning Gamecube too. TO AMAZON.

Oh I feel I should give mention to Xenosaga. Like it's not THAT obscure it just kinda faded into nothing after the Tales Series started getting popular.

Yeah, even after hearing the criticisms I really want to try out Xenosaga sometime. I just hope I won't miss much if I play it without touching Gears.

Hnnng, I wanna play all of those too. Cubivore is probably the only one that'd be tough to find, though. I'm lucky enough to have Gamers for all my older-gen needs but Cubivore seems to be an extra-hard-to-find game. I don't even think I've ever even seen it in a store, ever.
