Sonic Boom Official Remix. Pure awesome. If only this was the music for the final boss in Generations...

I wish the Asura's Wrath soundtrack was a pre-order bonus, because it is already amazing.

Ko Otani's Shadow of the Colossus soundtrack.
Pretty much mandatory for any "Video Game Sountrack" thread.

"Idk man, the Yoshi's Island final boss soundtrack is pretty good."

WHAT'S THAT, I CAN'T HEAR YOU OVER ALL THIS SWEEPING EPIC MAJESTY!

Also really like the sense of foreboding presented in the Legacy of Kain theme. It's easy to imagine Kain's ascent to godhood being accompanied by a choir like this. Or Raziel wandering the wasteland of the afterlife seeking his revenge.

Also, anyone with a webcam who sings along with this video will be my friend.

MG Rising isn't even out yet and I'm already planning on using tracks from it for my comics. I know, I'm shameless, but it's just so up my alley.

Holy fuck, seven pages and no love for Red Dead: Redemption? I am disappoint. Bill Elm and Woody Jackson do an amazing job of setting the mood for the game. And the tracks by Jose Gonzalez, Ashtar Command, and Jaime Lidell are phenomenal. William Elliot Whitmore's track is lyrics only, but it fits.

Moving on:
-Every Professor Layton OST. Ever. Seriously, when someone builds an entire fucking YouTube channel around your soundtracks, you're doing something right. Well done, Tomohito Nishiura.
-Cruisin' USA's "Deadwood Ride". If I had to pick a song from that game and race across the nation from San Francisco to Washington D.C. Cannonball Run style, this is the track I'd choose.
-I enjoy some tracks from the Paper Mario series, as well.
-Yoshi's Island. Because yes.
-I've heard mentions of Tetris, Super Mario 64, Halo, Smash Bros. Melee, Smash Bros. Brawl, Kirby, and the Legend of Zelda series. You guys are all awesome.
-As far as PC only games go, Railroad Tycoon II: Platinum's OST is pretty amazing. Two straight hours of blues tracks. Thank you, Jim Callahan!
-Super Mario Galaxy's OST, as well as its sequel's, is pretty amazing. I like the modern orchestral theme to it.
-Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour had a good soundtrack. Whenever I go out to the driving range, this is what I set my iPod to.
-Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas had a bunch of good songs on their radio stations. I don't know if that counts as an official soundtrack, but it's worth a mention.
-And of course, for the psychobillies, the WET OST.

...That's about all I got, off the top of my head. If I can think of more, I'll list them.

My god, I loved the Albert Odyssey soundtrack!!! The game itself is woefully average, but I was so hooked by this score (and the goofy translation) that it was the first game I ever finished on Saturn!

Shining Force III had an amazing soundtrack as well. Maybe the only game on Saturn to top the Albert Odyssey score. Definitely tops on my list.

Actually, virtually anything Sakuraba does is awesome. I'm glad Nintendo gives him stuff to do.

Speaking of Smash Bros...

I've never been one for 8-bit tunes, but this one from Ninja Gaiden was always super catchy.

My favorite Sonic chip tune track ever.

Although I don't think Stardust Speedway Bad Future from the US soundtrack of Sonic CD gets enough love. I love the base line.

Chrono Cross wasn't a good sequel to Chrono Trigger, but I still liked the game on its own merits. Plus the soundtrack was AMAZING!

Grandia had some good tunes, as well.

Dark Wizard is hidden gem, in my opinion.

And we shouldn't forget Lunar 2.

And this is just here because I can't resist...

The live-action recording of the first theme is such a beautiful reese's cup of whimsy and dignity. You will be going on an adventure, but you will be perfectly well-mannered every step of the way.

I have much love for the Deadly Premonition Soundtrack. It's as wonderfully bizarre as the game from which it comes. The chaotic sax is such a great illustration of panic, and Life is Beautiful simply never fails to make me smile.

Also, the work of Normand Corbeil, who did the soundtracks for Fahrenheit/Indigo Prophecy and Heavy Rain. Ethan Mars' theme is a particularly excellent example of his ability to convey a sense of the weight of depression. And his action tracks make it terrifyingly clear that you are in danger. These tracks also work exceptionally well as background music for a tabletop game, if you're running something dark and emotive. Corbeil died earlier this year, and I'll be picking up his final work later today; I wasn't going to preorder Beyond: Two Souls until I found out that the soundtrack comes with as a preorder bonus. I couldn't say no to that.

And something less depressing for last. I've seen a lot of love for Shoji Meguro here, so I'd like to recommend the Catherine soundtrack. The songs are his modern remixes of older orchestral works, from some real crowd-pleasers like Bizet and Dvorak. The Holst mashup is especially to die for. ^_^

Though it's from a fan game (rather good one, too), the soundtrack was composed from scratch, and it sounds incredible. Here's one of the songs that I can't stop listening to.

Love it when chiptune/videogame music and dance/clubbing music collide.

haha. i've just recently discovered this thread and it's been around for a while!

I don't want to say I am. but I am a little picky with certain music although I listen to many kinds especially video game music. I love a lot of old-school Japanese game like music which is something I greatly noticed!

not too sure if it was pointed out already but music from Megaman 8 really, really influences my inspiration particularly for a character I made inspired by Megaman actually ahaha! :D

But yeah Megaman 8 Soundtrack:
https://youtu.be/HDlEJrvGEHs

And another from a Shmup called Gaia Seed. it's just the introduction of the first stage song and Ending theme:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LdeJStv9024
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jyuKPRtedfo

Other's especially Jrpgs would be Dragon Quest and Breath of Fire!

Love this theme so much from Dragons Quest:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OOVPNVHW9FY

Breath of Fire 3's intro:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wp6mvuxxY0I

a whole lot more but I think most of the others where already covered in this thread. I love mainly listening too a whole lot of video game like music because they inspire a lot of the character designs I come up with and stuff! but yeah video game music is just super awesome!
A horror webcomic I'm working on!
