Jonathan Coulton Thread

Hello and welcome to the Jonathan Coulton thread! Let's discuss Jonathan Coulton Here!

How did you get introduced to his music?

I watched A Tails Tails Revolution Halloween Video. Tails was doing his stuff as usual, when the video went Poltergeist on your ass and static showed up. The Tails Doll was here. In the background was Jonathan Coulton's Creepy Doll. I listened to that song a lot. Then it went out of my mind since it was 2008 or 2009. Then I ran across it in 2011. Yeah...

What's your favorite Jonathan Coulton song?

Creepy Doll, purely for the nostalgia(?) factor in it. It also shows how a doll corrupted one's life.

All the ones I could think of.

First song I heard was Code Monkey, on a WoW beta dungeon video of all things (this was in 2008). Then Still Alive, obviously (2009). Finally what got me to buy his discography was this Shop Vac video, which I saw this year.

I really like Shop Vac for its satirical look at suburban life, but I think my favorite may be Mandelbrot Set. Gotta love math songs.

I saw him when he opened for They Might Be Giants in Philadelphia in October-ish. He was pretty awesome. The songs were Je Suis Rick Springfield, Code Monkey, Still Alive, and a few others I can't remember. It was pretty good fun. :)

First song I heard was probably Code Monkey a few years ago. I don't remember when, exactly. But my favorite song is probably Creepy Doll, as well. c:

1) Like most people, i guess, when i first finished Portal and had the credits rolling.

2) Code Monkey... 'cause i can relate to it.

I loved Portal, Still Alive, but somehow it never occurrered to me that there was, y'know, a guy who actually wrote it. Still love Still Alive, but if not better I find "Now I only want you gone" even more fun to sing along to. Third favourite is "I Feel Fantastic" which I came across in a Spoony video.

I recently discovered Space Doggity, and it keeps getting stuck in my head. It's a very sad song so I wish it wouldn't do that :(
