I'd probably say Whiskey Lullaby by Brad Paisley. I know, it's country. But damn if it doesn't give awesome visual while listening.

You can haaave
what's left of meeee

I just ruined it, but What's Left of Me by Nick Lachey was my major 'sad song to be put on repeat when feeling down' for awhile!

I cried when I first heard this song. But, it is funeral music, so it would have to be sad. But her vocals are so amazing!

This is gonna sound sort of silly, but "Pinch Me" by Barenaked Ladies. It's not like, depressing, boo-hoo sad, but I feel like it accurately portrays chronic depression, so when I'm feeling down and I listen to it, I feel like, "DANG, these guys get it!" but the downside is it sort of feeds into my bad mood. But when I'm in a good mood, it's upbeat enough that it's just an enjoyable listen. I dunno.

A lot of somber songs run the risk of getting too melodramatic, and I have trouble taking that stuff as seriously? There's other songs that I think are sad, I just can't recall them right now! I listened to "Pinch Me" recently, so it's at the forefront of my mind.

"La Boda" (the wedding) by Aventura. Most of you guys won't know or understand it since it's a spanish song and hispanic band, but this song is AMAZING. I get goosebumps, belly aches, and chills whenever I hear it, and I actually avoid listening to it too much because it depresses me as well.

It starts off with a wedding. The priest goes through the whole spiel about speak now or forever hold your peace, and of course, Anthony (the singer of this song) burst into the room. He tells the priest to stop, cuz the whole thing was a huge mistake, and then he proceeds to tell the most beautiful love story that occured between him and the bride; how they'd grown up together, and how when they were little kids, they shared their first kiss and pledged their love to eachother. How, as they grew, he'd sneak into her bedroom at night, and hide under her bed when their parents appeared. How they've always shared a heart. Then he turns to the bride and yells at her for crying, because she knows that the voyage he took was neccessary, and that the very witnesses of the wedding knew she was only getting married to try to forget about him.

When someone in the room yells that he's a nut, Anthony pleads to not be judged, for even his idol Romeo fought for love. Then he adds that a single (as in, without a lover) man is a hero even if he dies in battle, and he refuses to leave without his girl.

... I'm gonna stop right there because this is getting kind of long

But anyway, it's beautiful, and their other song, "Amor de Madre" (a mother's love) is just as sad, and even more realistic than "La Boda". That one tells a story about a mother who dies from depression because of her ungrateful son who was a literal son of a @#$%& (the @#$%& being the father, who abandoned them before the kid was even born). After giving birth, the mom struggled to make ends meet, and she ended up having to become a prostitute to support her precious child (the kid didn't know about this). As the song progresses, you learn that the kid grew up to be a spoiled brat with many enemies. He refused to listen to his mother, and one day, authorities come to her door, looking for a murderer with his description...

As the son suffered in prison, the mother suffered all the more... and died.
