Anyone else read The Dresden Files? Guys, I'm in love here.

I struggle back to the internet to respond to this! Oh my golly. One of the guys I now work with has all of these. ALL OF THESE. There's about four other people in the office who regularly drop by his desk, returning one of the books in the series and asking for another. One of em refuses to read them in any order but The Proper Order, and he's been bugging another one of the guys to hurry up and read so he can get to the next book by I digress. I watched the processional for like a month or so until I slid up to the guy and went "Ok. What are these books and why are you dealing em out like drugs?" He offered me Small Favor. I ate the dang thing in two days. OH MY GOSH THESE BOOKS ARE THE BEST. I didn't know what I needed in my life was a Chicago gumshoe wizard. But I did.

Also, in the nature of the thread, I recently got the Wings of Fire series introduced to me by a super sharp kid I've been mentoring. Really well written series and bonus points all about dragons. It surprised me! I'm amazed someone was able to sum up the problems of prejudice and wanting change but passing on the hate and narrow-mindedness that is the root cause of all the bad stuff to happen in the first place.

“I want you,” I said, “to get me a doughnut. A real, genuine, Chicago doughnut. Not some glamoured doughnut. An actual one. Freshly made.”
“Likest thou jelly within thy doughnut?”
“Nay, but prithee, with sprinkles ‘pon it instead,” I said solemnly, “and frosting of white.”

Really sums up why the series is awesome. Not all problems are solved with arcane power and violence. A lot of problems are solved in ways that probably all qualify to be classified under "Crazy Awesome" on TV Tropes. Or, as Dresden describes it, "Wile E. Coyote: Suuuuuuuper genius."
