The NaNoWriMo Thread

The NaNoWriMo Thread

Postby Vitotamito » October 31st, 2013, 1:38 pm

Hey guys!

Anyone who's doing National Novel Writing Month should use this thread to keep us updated on their progress/ideas/etc.

For those who have never heard of NaNoWriMo http://nanowrimo.org/ check it out!

The idea is to write an entire novel (I believe 500,000 words minimum) in one month! The month of November.

I always start and then become too busy to finish, which seems like what will happen this year again. However, I'm planning on using this month as an excuse to continue writing my Novel I started last year and have been off-and-on writing since.

500,000 words is longer than the entire Lord of the Rings. It's half of the length of the entire Harry Potter series. I doubt it's possible to write that much in 30 days (unless someone has that crazy person writes a lot disease that shows up a lot in movies about crazy people).

I guess I'll take the month to type up the one book I finished.

It's 50,000 words, not 500,000.

That makes more sense.

Working on novel called "Out of Order" About a guy who is getting through High School rather difficultly until he realizes a Vending machine can change his life. I'm so hyped up for this.

I'm gonna see if I can ever do a story about a man in a postapocalyptic wasteland who came from a mental asylum.

I decided spur of moment to give this a try after seeing this thread. I've had a story idea floating in mind so I'll have to see if anything good comes of it.

Oh what the hell? I'm game. Color me signed up.

I've got a horror story that's hit me out of left field(came out of a conversation myself and the Beau were having about how survival horror games weren't that horrifying anymore, and what situations would really cause dread and fear). Kinda threw it out there, and then before you know it, I had a couple of characters and now I wanna see where this goes. For better or worse, I'mma plunk my butt down and see how far I can get. Even if I don't finish by the end of November, I'd at least like to get one draft of this out(figure the first draft is the hardest right?).

I've been doing Nanowrimo for a few years now~

This year I'm doing a fanfiction for the first time-- a pokemon fanfiction actually.

Its because I'm picking up a story my older sister wasn't able to finish-- and she asked me to pick it up. Its about a girl who sets off with an abra from Lavender town. Its so adorable you guys have no idea <3

(And of course a few short stories on the side.)

This thread's been a bit quiet since November actually started. We probably should have taken down usernames so we could be buddies on the NaNo site.

Gotta ask how everyone is doing though. I kinda wanted to brag a bit since I'm actually doing surprisingly well. 15812/50k as of last count. It feels good for a story that's only a collection of thoughts and not planned at all. The bigger worry is whether or not it'll be finished before or after 50k. Worrisome.

Hope everyone else's novels are going well. Now back to writing.

1353 (a little over 3 pages) for the one that I'm "finishing", but I've written a bunch of other stuff totaling 5753 so far (4 books plus The Urban Mystic plus my journal, which brings the total words/month up to 11,508). If I was just working on the one book I would be farther than that by now.

So, is this thread simply for discussion or should we be talking about progress?

Up to Ch. 5 already, but far from finishing.

Taking part also! My first year.
I think I’m just reaching 9000, PFFFFT 9000.
And I’m stepping out of my fantasy safe zone and into sci-fi.
I have today off as well so I’m hoping to get at least 4k done today to catch up <3

As of now, I'm at about 18000 words. I don't mean to brag but I've got some pretty great short stories thrown in there along with the main 'novel' I'm working on.

It's always good to get out of your comfort zone. Good luck catching up. You can do it!
