Dear fellow Smackjeevers, My mother thinks that i should stop doing webcomics forever. I love doing it, it is pastime. What do I do. I need a helpful response....and quick!

Uh, if she doesn't have a reason, other than "Cause I say so lolz", maybe you should talk it out with her.

But sj isn't safe, sometimes, with nc-17 and bl and all that. Maybe shes trying to keep you from that so you don't become a perv. Again, that can be disscussed with her. There are soultions, get the computer to block the innipropriate stuff. Also, you could start to love sj so much you forget about other things, like homework, chores, and all that stuff. Soultion is to have a timer for like, an hour or somthing.

All webcomics, forever? Maybe she does not understand webcomics, or understands some of the more disturbing ones too well. I like webcomics myself and it is a far better pastime then some others.

Maybe she thinks it is taking up too much of your time and making you socially isolated and preventing you from doing something physically active like sports. Talk about it with her. In those cases she may have reason to worry if you spend all your time focusing on webcomics. Sit down and talk with her.

You may have to reach a compromise, but she has no grounds to permantly ban you from all webcomics.

If she is worried about content, I can recommend some Christian webcomic sites you can use to convince her they are not all BL, gore or porn.

Tell her you're not hurting anyone by doing this- and its what you love to do. You just wanna enjoy yourself- theres nothing wrong with that. Not every person enjoys themselves the same way- is she upset because she considers this an abnormal form of entertainment? I don't really see what she thinks is wrong with this.

But yes- try and slow down if thatll make her happy. But i think you should not give it up forever because that is complete bullshit. No one should ever have to give up something they love which is causing no harm to anyone. Spend some time doing whatever it is she thinks you should be doing- but don't forget about smackjeeves. Just find a way to balance everything.

Because of the length of time you spend reading/drawing webcomics or because she finds the activity inherently abhorrent?

Well...on theawesomepizzaman's 2nd paragraph, I agree. But people are smart enough to not watch pr0n...I'm kinda addicted to SJ but I still have a social life, I do my homework on time, etc. I got no ideas, soz.

It's either or both of these:
1. You're not balancing your hobby and school.
2. Your mother thinks you've got no future with webcomics and she (has other plans for you and) wants you to be in another profession other than a media artist.

Spriting isn't really that good specially if you're just re-using/recoloring existing sprites, I side with your mom.
