All I remember is that it had robots/mechs and looked like it was made in the 90s, and it had the characters singing... like a musical anime of some sort? the episode I watched had one of the character being attacked by a dinosaur/monster and the female character calmed it down by singing it a lullaby... any clues?

Macross Frontier? (I haven't watched that one but it's notorious/famous for robots and singing)

Wow, wasn't expecting it to be Macross, haha. Was Frontier the only one with singing? o___O

I remember seeing one of the Macross series on Toonami a looooong time ago when it had a goofy American name-change to Robotech, haha. Always meant to watch it someday...
I remember a dude and a girl being stranded on a spaceship or something, and she was trying to take a shower and he peeked in at her and she got pissed. Odd that that's the one scene I remember most from it despite the mechs...

*EDIT*
So I want to try reading Crossbone Gundam, which is a sequel to Gundam F91. I decided since it's a sequel to it that I should watch F91 first, and I'm now half-way through it.
It's... Okay. It feels a bit rushed, seeing as they condensed a bunch of Gundam plot into a 2 hour movie instead of spreading it out in volumes like Unicorn. It's also pretty fucked up in terms of showing civilians dying and stuff. D:

I'm hoping Crossbone will be a bit more light-hearted, but I guess F91 could be worse. The only real problem is the pacing, (in fact I can barely understand much of the plot due to the aforementioned rushed pacing,) and my personal gripe of seeing kids/animals/innocent people dying left and right. Other than that it's alright. The Mobile Suits in the Crossbone Vanguard are cool.

Yu Yu Hakusho. OH YES.

EDIT: I'm starting to form a tradition of watching anime on Justdubs during new years. Not just anime but anime from the 90s.

Last year was the Getbackers and the year before that was Digimon.

I've been watching Death Note, I dunno why I've left it until now. I like the opening for Season 2, it reminds me of System of a Down.

I like Mad Capsule Markets just as much, but yeah. MTH rules.

*EDIT*
Dance in the Vampire Bund has an official straight shota pairing... But it's also about Vampires. Romance-y vampires.
Le sigh...

Hmm I'll probably have to check them out.

Also I just finished Death Note, I loved it. That ending was awesome.

Alright, watched the first couple of Dance in the Vampire Bund episodes. Not bad... I was expecting worse, I guess. Still gets rather typical-Vampire-cheesy at many points, but the animation is nice and it's actually pretty funny. There hasn't been much action yet but I'm sure there will be later, considering how they're setting the story up.

I'd avoid it if fanservice leaves a bad taste in your mouth, especially of the loli, (and later straight shota,) variety. This show doesn't pull punches. Honestly I'm surprised it got an uncensored release over here, (it originally got censored by Funi but then re-released uncensored after negative reaction to the censored version. Which is pretty nice, actually. Since I have a dub to listen to I might put this on my PS3 to watch, though I'll have to avoid watching it with family around...) but I guess it's easier to get away with since they have the same "yeah she's a loli, but she's also thousands of years old!" thing Disgaea has going for it.

I don't mind the fanservice though, I actually tend to like fanservice in anime, (because I'm shallow, you see,) my only complaint so far is how typical the protagonist is. Get rid of the lycanthropy and he's every other animu hero ever to exist.

Doooooooooo it.
I need to not be the only TMCM fan on the forum.

Watched the first two episodes of Xam'd. It's interesting while at the same time strangely not, could just be a slow beginning.

It is NOT an action series like the OP* implied and they expect you to read into things for some of the information points. It's not brain bustingly difficult but you have to pay a little attention to it since they don't spoon-feed the viewers for some of the points.

I personally found it interesting and worth watching to the end but it's a bit on the niche-er side.

I guess it's the sort of anime you'd have to keep watching in order to really get into, kind of like Monster or Mushishi.

I just saw the first ep of Nisemonogatari, ffffff so awesome. Already it seems to be as good (if not better) than Bakemonogatari.

I don't know, the animation is nice but...I was hit in the face with a mountain of cliches. But usually animes like Mirai Nikki don't interest me...
