Coffee
1. Open tin
2. Pour coffee powder into filter
3. Put filter in coffee machine
4. Pour water into water basin in coffee machine
5. Close everything up and turn it on
6. Wait (this is the hard part)
7. Pour coffee into cup of your choosing (your choosing!!!!)
8. Drink it

Okay, here's a couple nice quick recipes:

Budget stir fry
Ingredients
2 large Chicken breasts (skin on, skin off, whatever you can afford)
1 pack Oriental flavor Ramen noodles (or Chinese Chow Mein flavor Super Noodles in the UK)
A handful of garden peas
A handful of sweet corn kernels
Your choice of oriental sauce (we use Hoi Sin)
Cooking oil (we used peanut because that's what we had)

1) Boil water in a pot large enough for your noodles, add the flavor packet.
2) Add sweet corn and peas to the noodles.
3) Add noodles to hot water and cook until done.
4) Prepare your chicken breasts. Cut the skin off and discard, then slice the chicken breasts into thin slices, you want it to cook fast.
5) Add a little bit of oil and two or three tablespoons of sauce to stir fry pan and heat.
6) Add chicken, and cook until done.
7) Drain noodles, sweet corn and peas, and add to stir fry.
8) Toss noodles, veggies and chicken together in the pan, coating everything liberally.
9) Serve. Your noodles will now fill more than one person.


Homemade macaroni
Ingredients
Pasta
About a cup and a half of cheese (sharp American cheddar, or mild British cheddar)
A roux
Two cups of milk
A dash of worcestershire sauce
A dash of garlic powder
Two teaspoons chopped chives (dried will do)
One teaspoon chopped parsley (dried will do)
Breadcrumbs

1) Put water on to heat for pasta. Pre-heat the broiler. Don't start step 3 until the pasta is in the pot and cooking!
2) Grate the cheese. Set some aside for your topping.
3) Make your roux in a pot big enough to contain your sauce
4) Slowly add your milk to the roux, whisking vigorously.
5) Add your grated cheese to your white sauce
6) Add worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, chives and parsley. Taste test: you might want to add a touch of salt if the sauce tastes a bit flat to you. Salt seems to perk this up every time.
7) Drain your pasta when it's finished and put it in a casserole dish.
8) Pour your cheese sauce over the pasta and mix to evenly coat the pasta.
9) Scatter breadcrumbs on top, then add some more grated cheese on top of that.
10) Place under the broiler and cook until cheese on top is melted.
11) Serve.

If you want to change this up, it's pretty delicious with chunks of ham in it!


I've got a great little recipe for Japanese Chicken, but I'd have to go get it from the kitchen first. This Japanese Chicken is a winner every time though. Oh boy is it good!

I'll take you up on that, I'm gonna be cooking for my girlfriend's family soon and some good baked sweets never hurt to melt the ice.

Also, I thought I'd say that I don't really understand Veganism. I've got nothing against it, if you've got your reasons and you wanna do it, go right ahead! I'm just saying I don't really understand the logic behind it. Dairy cows need to be milked or their udders will explode and the kind of chicken eggs you eat don't actually have baby chicken fetuses in them to murder or anything. They're essentially "blanks". That said, I realize some people do it because of the dairy and egg industries and how mega-corporations keep their animals in terrible, unsanitary conditions and mistreat them. HOWEVER, there are lots of natural and organic dairy farms that treat their animals well and keep them in good, clean conditions. These tend to run a little pricier and might be a bit harder to get your hands on, but if your concern is for the well-being of the animals and you want to make a stand against the bad in the industry, shedding a little extra out of your wallet to support the good side seems like a better idea than boycotting it all together.
So, in conclusion, if you have your reasons you have your reasons, but I know a lot of people make these kind of decisions without really thinking too much into it sometimes. So try to consider some of that if you were thinking about going Vegan.
OR, feel free to call me out on any of this if you disagree. (I'm not accusing anybody here, just stating facts)

So today I learned that you can Microwave Bacon.
Which sounds horrible but I had to try it... And it's... Not actually that bad.
I mean it's nowhere near as good as Bacon cooked the right way but I've had way worse stuff cooked in the Microwave.

I've done this before. Glad to know I'm not the only one!

By the way, if you're away from home a lot, like I usually am, and find yourself on the open road, you can cook food while you drive with your car engine. Just wrap the item in a metal container (i.e. can or tin foil), set it on the exhaust manifold and drive! I've cooked burgers, hot dogs, hashbrowns, omelettes, chili, French Fries, the list goes on and on. (Diesel motors work best for this; they run hotter than gasoline engines, and heat up quicker. Plus, generally, diesels are bigger motors, so you have more room to cook. Gasoline engines are limited to simple things, with a good V-8 diesel, you can cook entire three-course meals, like BBQ Ribs with scalloped potatoes and green beans with pie and cake on the side, or French Dip sandwiches, etc. etc.) I have an entire cookbook devoted to stuff you can cook on your car engine! (I kid you not, they have a recipe on how to make Thanksgiving Dinner with your motor. No joke!)

By the way, that same cookbook taught me how to make Barbeque sauce out of soda. It actually tastes pretty good!

-1 can dark soda (Pepsi, Coke, Root Beer, Dr. Pepper, etc. No Sprite or anything like that)
-Ketchup*
-Mustard*
-1/8 tsp. Salt
-1 Tbsp. Powdered Sugar (the recipe says just sugar, but I find powdered sugar works better, as it keeps the sauce thicker)
-2 Tbsp. Brown Sugar
-1/4 Tbsp. Vinegar
-1/4 Tbsp. Molasses (optional)

*The recipe calls for packets of these, but when I make this, I usually do it in huge batches, so instead of opening packet after packet I just use the bottle.

Empty soda can halfway. Insert four to six packets of ketchup, and two to three packets of mustard. (Or until soda mixture thickens a bit). Add in all other ingredients, and stir really, really well. Then set on manifold and drive for 45 minutes (cooking times are based on diesel V-8 going an average of 55-60 MPH. Cooking times may vary by vehicle and speed. If you're making this at home, just empty mixture into a large coffee cup or something and microwave for three minutes.) Stir afterward, and transfer contents into a serving container.
