If we had to get a new Kong I'd prefer Funky Kong, haha.

Another idea for a item: Kuribo's Shoe, from Super Mario Bros. 3!

I would be suggesting characters off the handle if not for the fact I am convinced some of the Cooler ones will get fucked up. Like I would suggest Daisy but she'd be a Peach Clone, Or like Seven said Funky Kong but they might make him a DK clone.

Wait.......Idea.......

Iunno, after Brawl I'm pretty convinced that Sakurai is a pro at avoiding clones now. Unless you consider stuff like Fox/Falco/Wolf who have similar-but-altered movesets clones.

AN ASSIST TROPHY WOULD BE UNACCEPTABLE FOR THE GREAT GROOSE. I DEMAND THAT HE BE IN IT AND PLAYABLE.

Fox/Falco were pretty close in Melee so they changed the two up a bit and they're pretty solid. Wolf is REALLY well done for a clone. Like it's obvious he has some similar moves but a lot of 'em differ from Fox and Falco a lot so I agree, they've been getting good at avoiding clones. The only clone still around is Ganondorf and even then the sheer power and awesomeness make up for it no problem.

The only reason I wouldn't suggest Daisy is just because there's just no reference for her. Peach made it in in Melee because when they went with adding Mario characters she was just a good choice, especially due to her moveset having special moves from Super Mario Bros. 2. With Daisy, although she's been in a ton of games, she often changes up a lot with her moves and isn't the best character to work with. If they based her entry from Strikers, there's no question she'd be a great addition to the series, but at the very least I'm thinking Waluigi makes it in first before her. I would kill to see her in it but I can understand the choice not to if they were asked about it and they said no.

Here it comes guys, the PS3 version http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=pl ... 1bQSw7FOUQ
PLAYSTATION ALL-STARS.

I think it'll do good, I like this whole thing about LISTENING TO THE FANS. Whereas, Masahiro just does what he thinks is good with Smash Bros. But hey if Geno makes it into Smash 4 I'll be good. B)

Pfft, stay the course. That dude doesn't need to listen to fans to know what he's doing, hahaha.
Spoiler! :
All joking aside though I think that's a bit of a stretch. I'm sure Sakurai listens to his fans plenty.

Anyways PS All-Stars looks neat. Looks more fun than I was expecting, but I'll withhold judgement until seeing more of the roster. There aren't a lot of first-party Sony characters for me to be interested in, so I'm looking forward to seeing just how far out they'll reach for characters and how much variety there will be. Seeing PaRappa and the Fat Princess is a good sign, though. Neither of those are Sony-developed so it seems like just about anything exclusive to Sony consoles is fair game.
Crossing my fingers for some Demon's Souls and Killzone representin'. Oh, and Ico. I'd be totally pumped to see Ico.

Hell, after we see more of All-Stars I prolly wouldn't object to turning this into a dual-SSB + PSAS thread. Assuming there's enough space in the Thread Title.

I remember seeing a pre-production report on SSB4 leaked on some site. I don't remember exactly what it said, but it think there was something about improving the sticker system.

Also, if Sonic returns, I want Planet Wisp to be a stage. Sonic Generations has already shown how beautiful it looks in HD.

Bad thing about the PS All-Stars is that none of those characters will likely appear in SSB since Sony's using them.

i REALLY can't wait for the net SSB. i heard it's going to be on the 3DS and Wii U, right? as much as i consider ssb a home console experience, it'll be interesting to see its transition to the 3DS as well. i really hope there'll be streetpass features, since i have a few friends with 3ds's as well.
as for the topic most people are concered with, new characters, i personally think the most likely ones are uprising characters, possibly Magnus, who would be the most likely exept for his lack of versatility. all he has is the club, and while you could use it in multiple ways, coming up with a final smash (assuming that is kept in the next game) would be difficult. a few more likely options would be viridi, medusa, thanatos, or hades. or assist trophies of characters like twinbellows, hewdraw, magnus (this is more likely, in my opinion), the chaos kin, or centurians.
since i'm a total zeldatard, i'll just say right here that i would love to see ghirahim, as the most likely new zelda character, or midna or vaati, as the ones i would rather see, in the next ssb. sadly, none of these are that likely to happen. i'm also wondering about what they're going to do with link ganon and zelda. for SSBB, they were updated t their latest incartion, the TP link, zelda, and ganon. if that kept up, you could assume they would be updated to their SS incarnations. but ganondorf wasn't in that game (could he be replaced or cloned by demise in the next ssb?) and SS zelda is NOT, repeat NOT like either zelda use in past ssb games. and seeing her use magic or transform into shiek wouldn't seem right to me.
finally, i move on to the characters i've heard fanboys yowl the most about: megaman, master cheif, and sora (and/or roxas)
i too, would LOVE if either of them made it in! but let's face it- megaman games are pretty much dead. exept for MM9 and MM10 on wiiware, live arcade, and PS network, there haven't really been any recent megaman games. no matter how beloved it is, capcom has pretty much finished off the mega man series. as for master chief, can anyone ACTUALLY see that happening? halo is an xbox series. period, end of story. now, you could argue that sonic made it in even though he's from a sega series, but even though sega OWNS sonic, they've been putting more and more of his games on nintendo consoles. the same with snake and the MG series. halo has NEVER released a nintendo-console game, and i doubt they will anytime in the near future. sora and/or roxas is/are the more likely of the fanboy-promoted additions, seeing as a lot of kindom hearts games are on nintendo console nowadays. i honestly wouldn't be to shocked to find out that, at the least, there was a kingdom hearts assist trophy, be it roxas, sora, axel, ryu, or anyone else.
also, sorry for the long post! when it comes to video games, especially ssb or zelda, i tend to ramble a LOT.

That's what I said. There would be a fourth SSB sequel for 3DS or Wii U, but Sakurai was busy with a Kid Icarus game.

I'm not so sure about that. I highly doubt Snake won't make his way into this game too. It just seems SO FITTING.

Still...like Rain said I'm pretty skeptical on it. They decided to show off the game with those obscure characters? When trailers for other games like Brawl and Melee came out, they showed the characters that were on top that everyone knew. God of War is there, which is great, but the others...aren't as well known or they're really old. SSBB had its fair share of old characters but I think they should've showed off some better characters instead off...well that. Seriously Fatty Princess?...Who?

I think the idea could be successful but the small gameplay video doesn't really do it justice. If they're going to separate this game from Smash Bros. to keep the hate away from themselves (because we all know it's coming) there needs to be way more differences being shown (from both Smash Bros. and other 4 player Brawlers that have come before it), better characters being shown, and above all else, obvious commitment to the game. The guy talking about the game was SO BAD. "Let's talk about Parapa's and Fatty Princess's movesets!" No no no. You need to talk about the game and address the gameplay elements and story and other things like that.

Goodness.

EDIT: Now THIS is some of the stuff he should've been saying. This seperates it a little more from Brawl, that's good to see. Hopefully that special attack thing they mentioned though won't be too overpowered though. It sounds like it would take a while to get but would be much easier to use than the Smash Ball.

Wow, seriously? There are actually talking about MC in SSB?
That's like... Not even just a longshot or a pipe-dream, it's simply impossible. It'd be like Mario appearing in PlayStation All-Stars.
Sonic and Snake are both third-party, they're not owned by any of the big three, that's why they can be on all the consoles, but Halo is 100% MS, even with Bungie gone.

Afrohawkman wrote:They decided to show off the game with those obscure characters?

Well to be fair only PaRappa is all that obscure. Sweet Tooth, Fat Princess and Kratos are all pretty well-known. My only issue is that I don't care for most of the less obscure Sony characters.

And am I wrong in not caring if they separate it from SSB? They're still exclusive to each-other's systems so I wouldn't mind it being clone-y at all. It would just be SSB with different content, which is hard to complain about. Hell, the more they make it like SSB the better the odds are that the game will be fun. At least we know SSB has a solid and fun system, but if Sony strays from it we have no idea if it'll be fun or not.
What little I saw of the gameplay while skimming for character confirmations looked pretty fun, though.

I don't know dude, i really wanted that Cartoon Network brawl game to be great, and it didn't do too well, i heard. I know Sony has a bigger budget but yeah, those characters are really not as memorable as Nintendo characters are.
