Greatest Flame-Wars in Internet History

Postby tezzle » May 31st, 2009, 6:12 pm

You always see lists of the top # such-and-such in history, ranging from Sports, to Star Trek captains, to most gay-sounding rap lyrics, for example, if you're a fan of Cracked.com.

If some group of people went and took great effort to look through the history in forums & YouTube comment sections and found the craziest, stupidest, funniest, etc, flame-wars in the history of the internet, and put it in a book, that would be a best-seller. Guarantee.

Some of us have been on the internet for a while and have seen a lot of stuff in our day...I haven't. But have you?

What are the stupidest flame wars or arguments you've witnessed anywhere on the internet, regardless if you were in them or not.

I got in a huge arguement with someone on Youtube before Sonic was released for Brawl.

Me: Sonic might be in brawl
Them: yeah, as well as Shadow, Knuckles, Tails and Silver.
Me: probably not, thats more characters from one game than they have for their own characters
Them: NOO!! I LIKE THEM, THEYRE IN ALL OF THEM F*** YOU!!
Me: ..no...they wont be
Them: you sonic hater bi**h!! you just.. etc.

But that's youtube. What do you expect?

Ooh youtube has some of the most ignorant/troll commentors.
The amount of people that think/pretend to think anyone who uses another language is doing it to insult them and claim that the person posting in the foreign language can actually speak fluent english, but choose not to to antagonise them is insane.

I usually avoid flame wars. I've avoided a lot in cunchyroll , but they spammed the hell out of my inbox.

There was this thread in crunchyroll that said "what do you find attractive in a person?"

Me: Skin colour. I like guys with light skin for some reason...

Her: Racist

Me: O___o I really don't see why my post was racist.

Her: *Goes on about how I apparently hate african american people because I like guys w/ light skin*

Me: I never said I hated african american people. I also never said that I worship caucasians. What I just stated was just a preference, what I find attractive aesthetically. Besides, arican american people can have light skin too, ever heard of Beyonce' and Halle berry??

Her: *Types some crap about the KKK and nationalism etc etc*

I didn't reply after that. I also backed out on A LOT of arguments against Twitards. Reading their badly written replies was causing half of my brain to die. The one debate I didn't back out on was "Is Light good or bad??" I typed massive walls of text there.

I got in an argument on DA about some picture that was like yaoi related or something. He was flaming it because it was gheyyy.

Me: Uhh, there's nothing wrong with homosexuality. <__<

Him: EW! Yes there is! Why, are you gay?

Me: Uhh, bi-curious.

Him: OHGOD! Ew! Get away from me you pervert!

Me: -__-. Gays aren't perverts. You know, gays can't help being gay. They can't help who they're attracted to.

Him: EW! YOU'RE GAY AND YOU LIKE IT!

--------
He wouldn't listen to me at all. We argued for like, what, hours? But, Zobe came in and said something, and the guy was like:

"Oh, okay! That makes sense."

I try to avoid arguments when I can, but sometimes I can't resist. ;o

Try http://www.fark.com. Any article that has a hint of Gay Rights, Global Warming, Religion, Evolution, Politics in America, Immigration and well, you name it, will almost always have a follow-up of a great discussion which will usually devolve into a flame war.

Then you'll often and almost gaurenteed get pics inserted such as:

-"Nearl, I'm gonna kill Babar."

I don't think I've been in a flame war. Of any kind. I don't know.

A while back on Gaia, there was this guy who was convinced that he was going to force Marvel and DC out of business with 40 some-odd titles featuring knock-off characters and 10+ year old art.

It was hilarious.
