My Character Designs and Concepts

Postby StanleyComics » February 1st, 2018, 11:42 am

This is my first thread, might as well be an art one!
I have the suspicion no one is really going to see this, but ey, doesn't stop me from posting xD

Critiques and opinions will be highly appreciated!!!

So, without further adieu, let's get into the character designs:

1. Noah Van Buran, does magic, is a witch guy.

Image

2. Lacey, does magic as well, but is also a pain in the ass to people, because she's greedy. Oh, yeah, also her face gets bashed several times into a rock.

Image

3. Yuki and Alex. Yuki is the one who does the face bashing, Alex is just a twerp, who needs to learn to have some balls.

Image

4. Simon A. George - half-demon, half-asshole extraordinaire.

Image

5. Lil' Timmy - proof that insanity and witchcraft are one combination that doesn't need to happen... EVER!!!

Image

6. Meryl is an actual hero, but life keeps giving her crap.

Image

7. Old artwork of Harmony. She's the typical woman to get drunk with and hate on people together.

Image

I think this works for now :D

Like, comment and subscribe!

Seriously, though, tell me what you think xD

your art style and designs are exactly what you want for the kind of comic you're making - that somewhat realistic and serious style that's expected from a dark superhero sort of thing. normally i'd try to give critiques and tips, but i really can't think of any, you've got a good variety of characters and even your descriptions of them have a certain kind of personality and style!
also wow, that comparison of the 2012 drawing and the 2016 one, that's a lot of improvement

They all suck... Nah but seriously nice work. I'm assuming they are part of your active comic?

Pfff xD, Thanks, though :D Not exactly, they're more like characters that are going to be in a spin-off series, which is in the same universe... if I get there xD

Thanks! The girl in green is like a quintessential type of witch, with her worn out look and stuff xD

Lemme come up to you with a few other character concepts, which I'd designed long ago, but will use (if I get the chance to) in my stories.
The first two characters I drew long ago, and they are members of a coven:

First it's the girl with the crow familiar on her head:

Image

Then we get the boy from the coven, who is the only boy there, by the way.
He starts off with longer hair:

Image

And then has shorter hair:

Image

Then there's a character from "Superhuman", who I haven't yet introduced in the story:

Image

Yeah, yeah, I use sex as a way to bring in readers, we all do it...
Then we got another character from the same comic I didn't yet introduce:

Image

I am open to critique :D

Okay, I have a ton of stuff now, let's start with two sketches of Eddie Vedder and a digital drawing of his face:

Then we have some old fan art of DC characters Wonder Woman and Harley Quinn:

Now we got a character from my ongoing comic book "Superhuman", who is a convicted serial killer:

And a fan cover for a "Charmed" comic, my personal reboot of the original series:

Magical boy design:

Before and after going corrupted!

Image

So these are the two designs for a magical boy character I've had in mind for ages, but every time I tried to do anything with the concept, it never really worked out. Not that I'll make a story about this guy, but oh well. So the main thing I had in mind for this character is that he used to be this legendary magical boy, which I wanna call the Pink Knight, because he's... well, pink. In this world, magical monsters invade Earth for whatever reason, so for a reason I still haven't figured out, some people start developing into magical girls and boys from childhood. Their power starts manifesting in chaotic ways, since human beings aren't able to control such vast amounts of magic on their own, so a magical girl or boy needs to bind their powers to an object (preferably one they hold dear). This object becomes a transformation item. Once a magical girl or boy transforms into their magical form, they have access to their magical equipment - things like weapons, armor, garments, devices, etc. The Pink Knight's transformation item is a ring and when transformed, has the Bow of Hope, which shoots out explosive energy arrows and arrows, which can make plants grow. He also has a visor, which he can retract when it's not in use, called the Vision of Intent, which shows him how to aim his bow in order to shoot accurately at his targets. That's why he rarely misses. And of course, his armor chest and shoulder plates, called the Tectonic Armor, give him the power to create energy shields with which to protect himself from enemy fire. None of these powers can be activated automatically, rather, they must all be triggered by the wielder's intent.
The Pink Knight was in a team with two other magical individuals. These three are the ones who fight the final battle against the big boss, threatening Earth. One of them definitely dies, though I am uncertain of what happens with the other one. Filled with grief by the loss of his teammate, the Pink Knight does something forbidden - he casts a curse in order to destroy the big boss. Cursing, however, is forbidden, because it corrupts a magical girl or boy's powers. That shatters his ring and rebuilds it into a corrupted version of itself.
The Pink Knight is no longer the Pink Knight, but the Dark Archer. The Dark Archer has the Bow of Truth (a long bow, opposed to the Bow of Bow of Hope, which is a short bow), with which he can shoot arrows, which can disintegrate matter. His new visor is called the Sight of Clarity, which serves the same function as the Vision of Intent. The Tectonic Armor has been replaced with the Cloak of Solace - a cape, which can turn the wearer into smoke. This ability can be used in order to dodge attacks, as well as to travel undetected or to higher surfaces. The Cloak of Solace can also manifest a hood over the wearer's face, which in turn can cast an unnaturally dark shadow. This is usually used to prevent recognition.
Being corrupted and all, the Dark Archer is in a constant state of emotional pain and regret. Now that the enemy is coming back to Earth, new magical boys and girls are being awakened, not in children now, but in early and late teens. The Dark Archer takes it upon himself to guide the new magical people from meeting a nasty end, and does so in the shadows, until he's discovered and invited to join the new team. Also, the fact he used to be the legendary Pink Knight is supposed to be this shocking reveal to the new teammates xD

This is what I have for this guy, I don't even have a name for him, but that's what I've come up with xD There's also a concept for a third form for him, which is a white, more angelic version of his Dark Archer suit, and I'm thinking that would be his outfit for when he rids himself of the curse's corruption.
Hope you like the designs, I wanna make a whole cast of characters xD

This is just the third form of the Pink Knight/Dark Archer - the Purified Archer. His ring merges with the Fae Watch and becomes a new transformation item. In this form, he can shoot arrows, which freeze things from his Silver Crossbow, the new visor, called the View of New Horizons can not only show him how to aim his crossbow in order to shoot accurately at his targets, but it can also predict enemy moves in advance. The Crystal Plates can generate crystallized ice, which can act as a shield. The Cape of Shimmer allows him to turn into frosty vapor opposed to black smoke. This is the final magical boy form of this boy and I hope one day I actually make a good story out of this concept xD
