My favorite current comic is the Iron Man title by Matt Fraction and Salvador Larroca. The character is my favorite superhero of all time, and the story has been incredibly intense and emotionally brutal--
Spoiler! :
-- following Marvel's Dark Reign crossover with Norman " The Green Goblin " Osborn in charge of everything, Tony Stark's had to destroy all his work to keep it out of Norman's hands, including his own brain. After several issues of Tony on the run while gradually lobotomizing himself and losing intelligence, he finally succeeded in completely shutting down his brain, and rendered himself comatose. Now it's the other heroes' task to put Tony's mind back together...somehow.

My favorite comics of all time include Preacher, Transmetropolitan, the Ultimates, Stormwatch, and anything by Grant Morrison.

Just finished Pride of Baghdad by Brian K. Vaughan and Niko Henrichon. Imaginatively written and beautifully illustrated graphic novel in the true sense of the term, meaning not a reprint of pamphlet comics.

I'm just starting Parker Book One: The Hunter by local kid done good, Darwyn Cooke. It's based on a series of novels by Richard Stark, which was, I am told, also the inspiration for the movie Payback.

I just finished the final Sandman book(The Wake), and I was not impressed by it. It had a happy ending and all, and it was interesting, I just didn't like it all that much, I'm not sure why. I feel left out in the cold some how. In any case, on a friend's recommendation I got that old ass The Dark Knight Returns by Frank Miller. So far, I'm enjoying it. I did like Frank Miller's Daredevil, so that might be why. Also, said friend hates everything else Frank Miller does.
Also, I read Joker, it was a short, fun read, but nothing too special.

Well there was this VERY odd manga out called "Future Diary" That I had massive negotiations in my head about reading, because either the weird as heck concept they came up with would irritate me or make me fall in love with it. (its a horror manga btw)

They set it up SUPRISINGLY well, I did NOT expect it to be as interesting. And it has the scariest f*cking stalker I've EVER seen in a manga so far, which is probably what clinched it for me. I'm desperate to go out and buy the next volume tonight just to know what the hell happens next.

To be honest I was NOT expecting to like it THAT much. It sure surprised me! 0__o;;

OMG OMG OMG!!

So there is this little pawn-esque shop place that I love to get my video games from. The guy there(Dave) is cool as hell and his prices are bomb diggity. Well, he just decided to start shelling out comics, 5 for a buck. I'm digging through his stack and guess what I found!!

Just read Chapter 73 of "Alive - The Final Evolution"...

Pages 38-39<--- Holy Moly!! She actually did it! O_O

That's all I can say about it right now. The rest of the chapter's really cool too, but that scene just took me by utter surprise. To anyone who hasn't heard of this thing, "google" it. Don't just skip to the page I just mentioned though, or it won't have the effect, read the whole 72.5 chapters before it.

Just started reading Yandere Kanajo (Google it).

It is pretty funny. It's like a cross between Lucky Star and Hot Blooded Woman.

I'll have to keep an eye out for updates.

EDIT: Sorry for the double post. *Slaps own wrist*

I just finished The Road by Cormac McCarthy, and I was surprised by how faithful the film was to it.

Started reading A People's History of the United States by the late Howard Zinn. If you want to know the real loss to the literary world last week, it's Howard Zinn.

Nothing comic related at the moment.

I just finished reading The Lovely Bones on the advice of my girlfriend. It started off really well, but kinda petered out towards the end. It probably didn't help that we went to see the movie while I was in the middle of it. Not sure that I would recommend it except as one of those rare examples of the movie being better than the book.

I'm about to start reading Eat, Pray, Love (again, on the advice of the girlfriend).
