@SilverTiger: no, no it's not. I have no excuses for being this late and thank you so much for sticking with me through this retardation. I'm not giving up on newdawn until I finish telling my story

Yea new page is out. still pretty slow but still much faster than last time I updated so I'm happy.

I was debating back and forth about putting those last 4 panels in or not. In the end I decided they were necessary to show something about Jo's character. One of Joanna's major flaws (especially this early on) is that she has a temper problem and she can hold a grudge. in this case most of her anger was directed at the solder but some of it was at Max for holding her back (even though if she had just calmed down she might of realized that it probably was a good idea to learn as much about their situation as possible) However another side to Jo's personality is all she ever wants is a simple apology. Once she gets it she can forgive pretty much anything. Which in a sense makes her too trusting. This might also bite her in the butt later.

Finally got a new page up :p Not really much I can say about this page except I really like how Max and Jo turned out in those top three panels.
This years Halloween pic. Everyone have a happy and safe Halloween.

Finaly.
oh god, it seems like forever since I posted. I know giving you an excuse as to why this is so late would do me no good so instead I want to thank those of you who stuck with me this long and make two promius. First the next page is going to be up much soon if not when it's sapose to be. and second New Dawn is never going to die, (at least not until I bring it to an ending I can be proud of) It may fall into a coma from time to time but it will never die.

onto the comic.

I want to take back something I said a couple pages back. A while ago I talked with one of my fellow comic friends and decided I'm going to leave the soldiers uniforms the way they are. I did have reasons for why they soldiers are dressed the way they are, they may not be story revolution reasons but they were part of my story and if I change them cause someone doesn't like them I'm no longer telling my story. Please don't think this means I don't want feed back from my fans. I do, this just means I need to take everything as a suggestion and not try and turn everything around to try and please everyone.

I was really happy with this page. one It was one of the first ones that Max wasn't a total pain in my rear to draw. I love both Max's and Jo's expression in panel 5. The soldier however looks a little half-ass sometimes but nothing too major I think. also was really excited cause this was the first page done on my new lab top. now I don't have to kick mom and dad off the computer when I want to work.
Ok yea, I agree that it was a good idea not to let Joanna do the talking, but I’m starting to think having Max do it wasn’t such a great idea either. The boy is such a blabbermouth.

I wanted to do something to tie back to a personality trait I gave Max. Max might be smart when it comes to machines but that doesn’t exactly make him wise. He knew enough not to talk about Dawn it self, but when he gets on a roll…if the guy hadn’t reacted like he did he probably found out butt loads of stuff (if Jo didn’t find a way to shut him up first).

One last note, in my last comic some one pointed out the uniforms the soldier is wearing wouldn’t work in a forest area. I agree but for the webcomic I’m keeping them the same cause I was worried the sudden costume change would be jarring for some readers. I will, however, change them after we get past this chapter and for the printed version.

yea I've been kind of wondering about that. origanly I did their uniforms like that so it would be easy to tell they where from the same unit as the dead guy the kids found in the mech. (he wouldn't need camouflage I'm thinking) you're right though any self-respecting mamen would have found them easyly. (the kids might still have gotting caught though they wheren't expecting an ambush)However I don't think I can fix them for the next post I'm worried the sudden costum change might be jaring for some readers but I should see if I can fix this before I publish it in book form.

We’re still in that darn cave though I think will just be a few more pages and then we can move on to so different scenery at least. I tried to keep it a little interesting but changing up the POV. That bottom panel is my first time a temping to do an overhead shot. I’ve noticed that tends to make the cave they’re in look really freaking tall when it really isn’t. Also don’t ask me what kind of dinosaur that is in the left-hand corner. I really have no clue. I was just something I make up cause that area looked really blank.

Splash page!!

Ok so maybe not as impressive as some of the splash page I’ve seen (some of my favorite artist for TMNT can do amazing splash pages with super details and everything) Still I’m happy with it. I mean if nothing else it does give you a good expanse of the world. Besides they can only get better as I go.

I think the biggest challenge was designing the mech. I was suppose to be somewhat small (even though Max claims it’s huge) and I didn’t want to getting too complicated since I don’t really know the first thing about machines as it is. The only real problem I had was with the feet. They look really stupid. No wonder the thing crashed.

I sure hope Jo knows where she’s going. All these forest seans look the same to me. I wonder if that’s a bad thing if even the artist doesn’t know where the characters are going. I guess as long as it’s not writers block and pages still go up it doesn’t really matter.

Max looks sooo femi in that last panel. I really tried but no matter how I drew his face it kept coming out girly. Probably doesn’t help that Joanna’s so much of a tomboy to begin with. When I first created her I tried to do the kid cartoon thing with her and just give her big eyelashes to tell she was female. No one got it so I ended up giving her curves to get my point across. Not that I’m not happy with how Jo looks now it just… I’m getting off topic

Anyway a front few of Max is kind of hard to do in the first place cause of that long nose of his. I’ve tried several times and still can’t seem to get it right.

Jo just can’t seem to admit that she needs more practice, (though kind of ironic that she’s doing it to practice in the first place.) Anyway Max seems to find it amusing; at least until he feels she’s taking it too far.

Max was just plan fun to draw in this page entirely that I can’t really choose a panel alone that I like of him. I’ve always said the boy just has wonderful facial expressions. Joanna, however, I have 2 of the panels I really like. The one where she’s winding up her sling and the one were she’s firing it though I’m not sure if I got the forshorting right. It’s supposed to look like the rocks coming out at you but I think it looks more like it’s flouting in the air. Oh well will have to try again sometime.

you’ll be happy to note that we’re back with the first page of chapter 2. (Or chapter 1 if you don’t count the prologue, but if we keep that going it’s just going to confuse the heck out of me.)

Anyway this page is about Joanna’s vendetta against Kiwis. In this world Kiwis are a lot like raccoons or rodents in the fact that they get into everything (they are also like raccoons cause they’re about the same size but that’s beside the point.) I’m sure that some people here like the curious little Kiwis (Her pet frog taffy likes to ride them), but as far as Joanna is concerned they’re just plain annoying. Forchanly for them, at this point in time, she’s not that great of a shot.

And we finally come to an end… of the prologue that is. The story itself can now finally start.

Over all I’m pretty satisfied with this first part of the comic. There were some parts I kind feel I rushed a bit, but if I had dragged it out much longer I’m sure I would have bored my readers to death. I’m looking forward to starting the next chapter, so much so that I have to stop myself from telling people about it before they get the chance to read it. I hope you’ll stick around.
