I've worked in restaurants for 14 years, and still serve tables today. I love reading webcomics and drawing them.

end year 2
Whoo, what a ride it's been! I know today's page is a little late for Hallowe'en. I hope you still enjoy it! I for one haven't given up on scary movies OR candy. No regrets there!

You can find the beginning of our Hallowe'en Extravaganza here: http://rimcomics.smackjeeves.com/comics/1833595/halloween-2013-page-1/

We're taking one more brief pause while I travel for a week to help out my lady love. Once I get back, I'll probably take a few days to get my feet back under me then start drawing and posting new comics regularly again. I'm planning to spend a lot of time during the trip thinking about Nina's Pizza and the future of RIM comics.

You can find my email address below the comic strip if you have any questions or comments. I'd love to hear from anyone with feedback about the comics, as I will likely have loads of time to spend online during this trip.

See you soon, Mafiosos!
chase scene
This is the part where they have a chase scene in a hallway with lots of doors and some kickin' jams playing. Everybody gets shuffled around, we have a few laughs, and then we move on with the plot. Of course, that sort of thing works much better with animation, so you'll just have to imagine that part. Go ahead, I'll wait.

In other news, I've been up all night inking and coloring this one, so it's off to bed for me! Our story wraps up tomorrow, though I'll admit now it's gonna be up a little late. My advice is, get your Hallowe'en party on, then come back later on when you start to miss that most hallowed of holidays. We'll be here. And bring some candy! We like that stuff.
pile o' whatsit
Hey there, Mafiosos! Is everyone gearing up for Hallowe'en? Me, I'm working, naturally. But I think I've got a costume I can wear while waiting tables. I'm sure I'll have some sort of pics to share afterwards!

I hope everyone is enjoying the story so far! I can't wait to get to the conclusion (and not just so I can stop drawing everyone in costume, heh.) Tune in tomorrow to see what Freddie and Shag-- er, Ed are getting up to!
afraid of the darko
Our Hallowe'en adventure continues! I wonder what could have made that sound? Seriously, I'm not sure yet! But I have a few ideas who it might be...

We'll see you tomorrow for another fresh page of RIM Comics!
@Mark Stokes: Thank you so much, Mark! You have no idea how much that means to me, especially coming from you. I'm glad you liked it!
campfire stories
Whoa, I've been on break so long I almost forgot to post a comic today. Whoops!

Our story continues on Monday. See you then!
@Guest: Thank you so much! It was a lot of fun to color.
back in flak
Welcome back, Mafiosos! It's good to be posting a new page of RIM Comics!

It's been a while since we've seen a new page, huh? Too bad about Nina's pub crawl, I heard she was going to make delicious sandwiches to take along! I know Ed was looking forward to that.

I'll probably say a little more about the break soon, but for now I just want to say that it is fantastic to be working on the comic again, and we'll be seeing more from Nina and the gang, don't you worry. For now, this special spooky story arc will run every weekday until Hallowe'en. After that, we'll be taking another week off for an important cross-country trip, and I expect weekly updates to resume immediately after that. Huzzah!

See you tomorrow, Mafiosos!
Have at it! I got a giggle out of that one too.
It's pronounced "Ragoo"
Hey gang! Hope you enjoyed today's stupid pun, I mean comic strip! This one actually happened to one of my co-workers recently. I blame society. And english majors.

Announcements!
I'll be suspending the update schedule for the month of September. There are a great many things I need to catch up on or otherwise take care of, and October will be a busy month, culminating in the 2 year anniversary of RIM Comics. So regular updates will resume Thursday, October 3. If you'd like to draw a little fan art for me, or a guest strip, I'd be more than happy to share it here. I might even have the occasional strip to post before then. You can watch for random updates by following me on:

Twitter - https://twitter.com/RIM_Comics
or
Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/RimComics

The good news is that I will have some extra pages to post during October! I'm working on a s e c r e t story arc for the occasion. That's all I can say at the moment.

Thanks for stopping by! Hope to see you in October!
and now for something completely different
Hey gang! It's Moving Day, and unfortunately I didn't have time to do my usual strip. After we got done moving, I drew this little ditty just for you all! Hope you enjoy it.

Moving Day actually went off without any major issues, thankfully. One of the main reasons I was willing to put off the comic this week is the recurrent lateness of the strip. My digital art studio was set up elsewhere, and I was having trouble finding time to work on the comic during the week. But now it's moved into my living space, which should be pretty great! I'm really looking forward to having some extra time to draw comics, and now that I can work on it anytime, I expect my updates to be much more timely. I guess we'll see!

Thanks for coming by, stop back next week for a comic strip probably featuring a goofy pun. See ya then!
@cohencide: I couldn't agree more. And it almost appears as though you have to join the site to leave comments. It's been a real struggle to get any feedback at all. I'm really looking forward to launching a new site later this year.
shenanigans
I thought it would be nice to see how Lou and his misfit crew are doing for a little change of pace. Clearly things are still not running very smoothly for Lou. Also, hopefully he has fire insurance!

Thanks for stopping by, we'll see you next week!
stupid smart phones
I'd like to say this was some kind of commentary on our dependence on technology, and I suppose it wound up being that, but really it just started as a dumb joke about pulling out your cell phone when everyone at the table you're serving is on them. It ended up being, I think, a little more insightful than that though. Hope you like today's comic! See you next Thursday!
All Wet
Welcome back to RIM Comics! Lots of cool stuff on the horizon, so don't forget to stop by every Thursday for some sweet new comics!
Another question for any interested party: Normally I do 4-panel strips in a page format, to get better detail from the larger picture it offers. (If you're not sure what I'm talking about, check out any recent 4-panel strip. Like this one, for example: http://rimcomics.smackjeeves.com/comics/1758733/tumblin-tumblers/ )

I felt the level of detail on this one was low enough that I could get away with making it a classic comic strip layout. Most of the time, however, I feel like all the detail gets lost when I do this. I've seen other strips, like Sam & Fuzzy, use the same workaround, so I'm sure I'm not the only one to struggle with this. I feel like Jeph Jacques of Questionable Content also does well using his wide panels set vertically. Anyway, what do you think? I doubt I'll be retiring the more vertical layout anytime soon. I think most of us are familiar enough with the mouse wheel or scroll shortcut that we're beyond the unspoken "no-scroll" rule of webcomics. Except horizontal scrolling, let's be totally fucking serious here.

Your thoughts? Email me at rimcomics@gmail.com ! I'd love to hear from you.
armed and dangerous
Well, that about wraps up our current story for now! I love doing story arcs, but there's something kind of constricting about it on this weekly schedule! What are you gonna do?

Well, what I'm gonna do is some more short, gag-based comics. I might do a tiny storyline between now and October, and I'll probably do some sort of Hallowe'en storyline leading up to the 2 year mark on October 31 this year! I actually have a bit of a ghost story in mind, but I shan't say any more about it just now.

Thanks for checking us out today! There are great and wonderful things in store for RIM Comics, so I hope you stick with us! New pages now update on Thursdays, and you can find me on the interwubs at the following prime locations:

Twitter: https://twitter.com/RIM_Comics
Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/RimComics

How about Google+? Is that a thing any of you like to do? I've been on the fence about it, just because I already feel like I'm spread too thin online. But if anyone out there is interested in that sort of thing, drop me a line!

For that matter, got a question, comment, or greeting? If you've read any of my comics and you have anything to say about them, I'd love to hear from you! rimcomics@gmail.com
Thanks Mark! This one was a lot of fun.
liquor lineup
Well, here we are! It's a big round number. Of course, this isn't truly my 100th comic. There have been a few bonus pages or updates that I don't count in there. By my count I'm still probably about 6 away. But it's such a big, beautiful page of comics, and I feel like celebrating!

It's been a wonderful, amazing journey so far. Not to say it's been easy, of course. There have been plenty of struggles, sleepless nights, exhausted days. (Some of my own tables have even received poorer service as a result!) There's still plenty to struggle with. I know I still have a long, long way to go. But I'm up to the task.

So, who's ready for another 100 pages?
#100 Later today!
Just a quick note to anyone looking for the new page: It's almost done! I want this strip to be the best it possibly can be, so I'm going to take the time to finish it properly. Do make sure to check back later, it's going to be great! --Jack
