@Abrahamian: Very much so! Thank you for the reply; it's always interesting to see other artists' methods and ideas! I myself am horribly bound to using photo references for everything. My backgrounds became so much easier after I discovered Google Sketchup, though. Just about any location, building, vehicle or machine I can think of, at any angle I want to trace, right there online. So great!

Also, 100 years in the past would probably be cooler than the present. All of the crazy technology they use would just be getting developed then.
