Man, so glad to see this all spiffy and awesome. I chilled a bit longer than it did and thus pages of wicked happytimes.
I think Tolkien's Lord of the Rings relies a lot on portraying good as a pure thing, from the heart. I don't remember the descriptions of all the female characters, verbatim, from the book but there weren't many to begin with. The whole good (or Good capitalized proper) in portrayal of beauty is kind of shown in the elegance of the elves, the ruggedness and stalwartness of dwarves (who aren't considered beautiful, but more like the burly lumberjacks with barrel chests, of the world) and so forth.
Bad/Evil, while portrayed by inherently 'ugly' things like the orcs and such, is also primarily displayed by dark, burning destruction and obsidious smoke (which I like to think of as an offshoot to the imagery of coal smoke and mining from the coal boom).
There's a lot of literal light = good and dark = bad (the spiderthing's cave being a prime example, in the lattermost of books). BUT TO THWART THIS ENTIRE THING, is the struggle of Smeagol, seen as a beastly thing but when left to his own devices and isolation he is as innocent as a child. Every move he makes is to fawn over his obsession but when his obsession is out of mind, he acts on the simplest of notions from his roots as something very much like hobbitkind (and hobbitkind really portrays the sort of pastoral but rather communal, English countryside view).
I could write essays. We could have whole discussions on the figurative nature of Tolkien's representation of Good and Evil. But you might get bored and dig into some really good Pratchett.

I want that calendar too.
Each month would be the same, monotonous saying but with a different sad kitty. Reminding you of both the futility and ongoing tedious, menial work you endure as well as how many facets of your life, personality and overall wellbeing are suffering.
