Halfbreed Draft 2
Prolog

“She’s your blasted child.” said a young woman wearing a blue kimono with large black stars on it holding a baby girl in her arms. ”She may be my child, but she is still hell spawn.” Roared a man wearing heavy and shiny new plate mail with the insignia of a black dragon. “I will not raise hell spawn because of your trickery.” He said looking poorly at the child in her hands.
“Trickery or not is a knight not measured by his words?” The woman questioned him as she hugged the child deeply with sorrow on her face. “You know I don’t have long before they find me!” she roared at the man while stroking the child’s cheek. “Her life is in your hands!” she said strongly placing the child softly on the ground besides the strange man. “Kill her then if her life burdens you so!” she said as a small stream of tears ran down her eyes.
The man stared at the smiling baby and shook his head. “Raising his sword high into the air he looked from the woman to the child as he brought the sword down. The woman let out a small gasp as she had shut her eyes. When she opened them there stood the man holding the child in his large metal gloves. “Be gone and don’t return!” he said strictly as he started to walk away from the woman leaving his sword in the ground next to where the child was.
“Odeaon.” She said quietly to her self as she watched the man walk away. Losing the strength in her legs she fell to her knees tearing her kimono at the knee.
“We finally found you lass.” Said a voice as a group of 3 men came out from behind the woman.
“No!” she shouted as she tried to crawl away from the men. Stopping trying to save the little bit of dignity she had left she turned to face the men. “She’s gone now and your never be able to get her where she is!” she yelled at the men with fear in her voice.
The man walked over and pulled her hair hard pulling her into the air. “Aye, if that be true girl then you will just have t' do.” He said with a laugh looking down at his catch. “Aye or you could just tell us whar she is.” He said placing a dagger to her neck.
The woman quivered in fear as she looked at the man and let out a small. “No.”
The man named Odeaon stopped in his tracks as he heard a fatal scream holding the child tight against his chest as he broke into a mad run to the castle.



















Chapter 1. Looks like Raine.

“OOOOOdeeeeaoonnn” yelled a young girl 14 years of age as she ran though the halls of a large castle.
The young girl ran swiftly though the halls dressed in leather rags. A torn leather shirt, that was the usual outfit of the poorer boys, a pair of leather slacks with a patch on the left side and a pair of leather shoes, which looked like they were slightly chewed. Because of her appearance she got many dirty looks from the residents of the castle and even the ones that worked there. Running down the hall still yelling out the name Odeaon. Turning the Conner quickly she ran into a large knight. “Odeaon!” she shouted jumping into the elder knights arms causing him to fall over laughing.
“Good morning to you as well Raine.” Odeaon laughed Pushing him self up laughing as he did. Looking down at Raine he sighed seeing her hair was sticky with sap and full of twigs. “Slept outside again did we?” he questioned Laughing with a booming laugh as she nodded her head happy. “Dam it Raine! What did I tell you about that dam sap!” He said angrily as he whipped his hand out of Raine’s hair sticky with sap and wiping it against the wall.
“How else am I supposed to spike my hair up?” She asked playfully putting a hand to her hair trying to fix what her father had done.
“Stubborn, just like you dad.” He laughed as the two walked down the hall toward the main hall.
Raine looked up at him and said “Well if you ever find him tell me.” She laughed at him. Raine and Odeaon looked nothing alike, which caused most people to think she was a niece instead of his child. So as a joke the two would mess with the other as if they were not related.

“Just touch it!” said a young man of about 17 year of age. “What are you afraid of some trinket?” he questioned poking a man dressed in black armor. He wore a large red robe with golden laces and had a small bag that hung on his belt. “So are you going to take it to the boss or will I cry baby?” he questioned poking at the man.
“We don’t bloody know what it does!” said the man in the armor with a deep voice. “For all we know it could turn me into a statue” he said pointing at a obsidian dragon statue. “Why don’t you pick it up and take it to her then, if your so worried about it. “he said stubbornly at the statue.
“Awe Afraid of a little statue.” The man said playfully dancing around in his robes in a very girly manner. “Never thought the great Darkly would be downfall by a statue.” He laughed.
“ I am not afraid of a dam statue!” the man in armor said as he walked over and grabbed the statue. “There you happy now Terra!?” he questioned as his body turned translucent and he cursed he had been tricked. He disappeared letting the statue fall harmlessly to the ground with a thud.
“Awe poor Darkly.” Laughed the man as he spun in a circle and pulled out a small metal claw and picked up the statue with it. “Maybe this time he will die.” He giggled very girly like. Walking away from the site where they found the statue back to their ship

“Today we mark a grand occasion.” Shouted Odeaon as he stood proudly in his shining armor. "today we mark the entrance of theses young men into the brotherhood of knights," he said unsheathing his sword and aiming it toward the group of teenage boys. The crowd cheered at his words, but not as loudly as the mothers of the young boys. "Now onto the trials to see if theses men are fit to old a blade." he said as the crowd cheered again ready to watch.
Raine sighed as she walked around the castles halls looking for something to ease her boredom. "You can't go to the knighting unless you act proper and lady like." she said mimicking her father with her left hand. "Oh who wants to watch a bunch of boys fight each other anyway." she said crossing her arms and letting out a sigh. A large explosion like sound and screams of many could be heard from the hall where the knighting was happening. "Sounds like fun!" Raine said as she dashed toward the sound.
"Urge my head." said the man in black armor as he layed on the ground with a hand to his head. "That idiot knew that would happen!" he roared at himself for being such an fool. Hearing the screams around him he pushed him self up and looked around the castle like area he was in. He had appeared right in the middle of the ceremony causing a panic to occur.
"It's the dragon's knight!" Roared a woman as she ran out of the room causing the panic in the room to increase 10 full.
"He is here certainly for our heads!" screamed a man dressed in a long blue robe as he moved from the front of the row to the back
. Many joined him getting as far away from the man as they could. The knights jumped into action and surrounded the man placing blades at all sides of him.
Odeaon sighed and looked at the so called knights. "children" he sighed moving forward and grabbing on forcefully pulling him away from the man. " Arms down!" he roared looking angerly at the group. Most heisted but slowly put their weapons down and backed away.
"Well at least someone here has manners." thought the man as he scratched the back of his head wondering how he was going to explain this to theses people. "I appear to be in the wrong place and at the wrong time." He laughed in a dark and blood curing type of way causing people to become more afraid.
"That you are." Odeaon said looking at the man wondering what he wanted or more important how he got here. "Name your self and your purpose." Odeaon said standing proudly.
"I'm um-mm Vince." he said taken a bit back from the mans straight to the point attitude. "I am here only cause of a fail experiment." he said unsure if that would work. He had wanted to say magic but he was unsure where he was and how people would react to magic ideas.


"Alright." he said looking at the man with pure seriousness as he turned quickly looking at the crowd. "Hear that he's not here to fight so let the knighting begin again!" he shouted with a smile as the crowd joined him retaking their seats. Some found it amusing and started to think that it was just some kind of act put on by Odeaon.
Pulling the Vince off to the side Odeaon smiled. " I am not sure if that is true or not but you are more then welcome to enjoy your stay here and watching the knighting.
Raine poked her head from behind one of the empty balcony seats and had been watching what had happened. " Oh sure let him stay but not your own kin." she said putting a hand to her hair and fixing the sap in it.
"As nice as that would be I really need to be going." Vince said as he looked at Odeaon who was being a little to nice. "If you could point toward the way out and I will gladly be on my way." he said as his eyes wondered to where Raine was hiding causing her to let out a small gasp and run from the balcony.
Odeaon heard the gasp and sighed turning around missing Raine but assuming it was here. "that girl will be the death of me." he thought to himself. Pointing the man on his way toward the exit he turned around and went back to the knighting at hand.
Vince thanked Odeaon and made his way out of the castle. Getting a view dirty looks from the guards he pushed the thought from his mind and left the castle. Looking out he saw a descent sized village around the castle. He had always loved places like this but never got to enjoy them. “Got to get back before Terra says something.” He thought as he pulled out a small cell phone holding it up to the sky. “Dam no signal.” he sighed. It was a advance phone that could be used to contact people on other worlds he would just have to get to a higher area to be able to use it.
Raine watched him from on top of the castle walls. “Wow I wonder what that is.” she thought staring at his phone. As she watched he jumped from the ground all the way to the top of the 18 foot wall. “WOW!” she said loudly quickly cover her mouth.
Vince winced as he turned around to see Raine. “What do you want you little whore.” he said looking at her with rage. He quickly pocket his phone.
“Hey! That’s no way to treat a lady!” she roared at him standing up and waving her arms angerly at him. “And I am not a whore!” she said getting mad at the man.
“Well you are certainly not a lady. “ he teased. “A lady stays in the castle walls making meals for the men. “He laughed looking down at her as her face got red.
“I am not one of those spoiled brats that sit around waiting for a man to come around!” she said as he started to lose interest and walked away. “Hey!” she said following after him as he jumped down landing out of the town and looked around at the green pasture. “I was talking to you!” she said following him.
“Why are you following me you pest, I don't need a whore.” he said turning quickly looking down at her.
“Not a whore!” said Raine jumping up and down in rage in front of the man which caused him to chuckle a bit. “And I am going to follow you cause you look like fun!” she said then thinking about her words sighed not meaning it in a dirty type of way.
“I just need to get away enough that she wants to go back to the town.” he thought as he started to walk toward a small mountain with a forest around it.
Raine looked at her and started to get anger at her. “You can't just wait it out I am going to follow you!” she said jogging a bit to catch up with the man.


The man stopped and wondered for a moment. “You can't read minds can you?” he thought looking at her.
“No no one can read minds.” she said acting like he had said something idiotic. Quickly cover her hands over her mouth noticing she had been tricked. “Hey! You tricked me!” she roared at him.
“Great she can read minds, just what I bloody needed.” he sighed started to run toward the forest trying to get away from this odd little girl.
“You can’t go into their! It’s forbidden.” She said running after Vince. Raine stomped her foot angrily. “Wimpy if you die try not to get to much blood on your armor I might want it!” she yelled from the border of the forest as she waved happly at him.
Not sure and not caring if she was telling the truth Vince started to slow his run as he got closer to the forest. As he got to the forest he figured out why it was forbidden. Their were large spider webs all over the trees casting even darker shadows into the forest. “Great…” he cursed unsure if he had chosen the lesser of 2 evils. As he walked down the forest the trees started to grow thicker with webs and a green slime that radiated in the dark grew on the sides of the trees. Getting a hand to his belt which held several different small pouches. “This might not have been my best idea yet.” He sighed knowing it was far to late to turn around and leave the forest. Several minutes of waiting to be attacked he started to calm down guessing theses trees might be that way to scare people away.

“Wimpy!” screamed Raine as she jumped down from a close by tree with 4 spiders easily twice her size following her. Running right at Vince Raine had a smile on her face. “You better start fighting or running.” She said with a laugh though she was afraid. “Cause I am sure I can out run you and that’s all I need to do.” She said as she turned to look at the large spiders chasing her.

“You couldn’t leave well enough alone for a blasted minute could you!” Vince roared at Raine as he went though his pouches in a rush. A smile lit across his face as he pulled out a small sword that was barley the size of his thumb. “Great now I’m have to save this little brat.” He sighed as he clenched the sword in his hand and it grew. A handle formed though Vince’s fingers and he got a tight grip on it. A black blade matching his armor started to grow out from the handle till it reached an impressive 5 feet. Holding the sword as he looked around to see what he could do. “Well you better be able to run fast then.” He shouted as he took off holding the sword. Though it was long it seemed to be quite light.
Raine started at the man as he took off leaving the young girl there alone with 4 spiders that had finally caught up to her. The spiders looked down at their prey getting ready to attack. “What kind of adventure is that!” Raine yelled at the man as he ran ignoring the spiders. The spider closest to Raine jumped and shoved its fang’s toward her aiming for her throat.







Chapter 2. Home on the road

“I wonder how the girl is faring.” Vince wondered as he ran though the wooded area holding his sword looking for an exit. Pushing the thought from his mind he kept running though the forest. As he ran he found the woods start to grow almost pitch-dark with nothing lighting the way but a few steams of light that passed though the trees and large yellow eyes in the area around him. “I swear if I become spider food I am going to kill Terra!” he roared as he kept running. A large amount of feet could be heard following him as he turned to see 4 large spiders chasing him now. “Guess’ I can’t run anymore.” He sighed as he held his sword steady ready to fight.
The spiders did not wait in their assault as they jumped at vince hoping to catch him for a nice quick meal. The spiders hairy arms came with in inchs of vince’s face as he rolled under them. Getting up before they could react he took his sword and stabed it hard into the back of the cloest spider causing it to scream out in pain. Green blood was left on vince’s sword as he pulled it out of the spider and parried an attacked from another.
Vince winced as the third spider attempted to sink it’s fangs into his back but by the sound of broken teeth he could tell his armor would hold. “Dam beast.” He sighed not wanting to use what he had left he jumped up holding on to a branch he threw a small sphere down at the spiders. The spiders ignored it intill a small green gas started to pour out of it knocking the spiders out and causing all the yellow eyes in the forest to flicker and disappear.
“What is that stuff?” A very familiar (to vince’s disappointment) voice said.






















“god dam it girl, why won’t you leave me alone.” Vince said turning looking poorly at Raine.
“Well you look like you go on adventures a lot.” She said with a smile trying to point out that she had always wanted to leave the castle and go on an adventure. “This will be easier on you if you just let me come.” She said with a laugh as she followed Vince happily out of the forest.
“Your quite crazy aren’t you.” He said looking down at her making him think of good memories. “I….NO” he thought pushing the girl away. “I don’t need a whore so go back to your father and whore mother.” He said angry that the girl was messing with his emotions. “
“Well I am going to go on an adventure with out you then!” she said anger stomping her foot. Behind Raine the castle she had lived all her life and the town she knew started to flicker in a white light. Vince stared at the light fancited by what was happening which caused Raine to turn to look. A small gasp escaped her throat as she made a mad dash back toward her home. “Please don’t be to late, please don’t let me be later.” She said to her self in a tone that sounded sad.
Vince shrugged unsure what had happened but was happy to be free of the pest. Walking the opposite way he decided it was safe to pull his phone back out. “Theses dam people are so behind on technology that this would blow their mind.” He laughed to him self thinking what would happen if someone found out his phone could contact people on another planet. Pushing a set of numbers on his phone he prayed he was in a good enough spot to get a connection. “Come on Rudas pick up.

Light-years away on what appeared to be a small abandoned space station sat a man with long flowing white hair as he messed with a small device. “Just a few more wires.” He said as he carefully moved a few of the wires in the device trying to get it to work. The phone in his pocket started to ring extremely loud causing him to jump and the device to go flying form his hand. “By the Gods!” he shouted angrily watching the device hit the floor breaking into several pieces. Picking up the phone he was about to throw it against the wall till he saw the caller id. “What do you want Soria!” he yelled into the phone as he tried to get the pieces of the device together.

“Rudas I need a ride!” he said not responding to the name Soria. “So get off your ass and get down here!” he roared at the man over the phone.
“the bloody hell again!” Rudas sighed as he dropped the pieces of the device and made his way to one of his ships. “I’ll be there in….” he said as he stopped to track her phone to find where she was. “3 days.” He laughed knowing his fastest ship could get their in a matter of hours but only had room for 1.
“3 days , just great.” Vince said hanging up the phone and shoving it forcefully into his pocket. “What am I suppose to do for 3 days.” He sighed as he decided he could finally relax and got into a comfy position under a tree. Deciding he would enjoy this kind of planet for as long as he could he closed his eyes and fell right asleep.




Raine jumped toward the border of her home town in a hope to get there in time only to have it vanish right under her finger tips. “NOOoo!” Raine screamed as she landed face first into the grass. Standing up and taking a look around she found out she no longer had a home and she had been warn of this. “Leave the castle on the 3rd and be forever taken from your home.” She sighed Remember what the priest had told everyone. Great now I’m stucccckkkk.” She said as her frown turned into a twist smile. “I can finally go on my adventure though!” she said jumping into the air and running back toward where Vince was. As she ran she tried to spot him but couldn't as he was behind a tree sleeping. "OH! Where did he wonder off to!" she said angrily as she looked around for the man. "
