I’m a graphic design student who spends her free time scribbling and rock climbing. I thought it would be fun to do a comic about a Pokémon game that I played, so here I am I guess.

Absolument (Absolutely)
Zydeco (A style of music from Louisiana's Cajun French-speaking communities. It blends blues, R&B, West African, Creole, and Caribbean music traditions. My Cajun High-school French teacher adores it)

Suddenly a tall lion man appears!
Translations: None! Just weird cultural differences.

Marianne seemed like the right name for Sycamore's Garchomp. As brilliant as he is, I feel like he needs a giant landshark to keep the younger Pokémon in line. He isn't the best at discipline after all.
Bienvenue: Welcome
Merci beaucoup: Thank you very much
Quoi: What?
Ah non! Merde!: Oh no! Shit!

In France there is a custom called “faire la bise” where one gives a little kiss on the cheek instead of a bone-crushing handshake. It took me years to get used to it- I used to freeze up an freak out every time I had to do it! So that’s what inspired Nadine’s little interaction here.

I’m sorry that it’s taken so long to update! This is a side-project for me, so it will come out when it comes out.
Bonne Chance (good luck)

Part 2 of page 7! I think that Dexio had best tread lightly around the new trainers from now on.
I'm still having fun with drawing street scenes but hopefully I can start making some longer updates.
Ça-va: How's it going?

Okay Adobe got rid of my favorite typeface so I'm going to use American Typewriter from now on. I'm sorry that this took me so long! I went overboard with the backgrounds on this one, and I'm probably not going to do another aerial shot like this again. I love drawing building though! Paris might smell terrible in real life but damn if it isn't pretty!
Enchansey (????)
C'est pas grave (It's not serious)

Fun fact: Nadine cannot speak French. At. All. It's pretty heinous when she tries.
Casse-toi (fuck off)
d'accord (okay)
excusez-moi (excuse me)

Calm down Seph. You can't use physical attacks yet.
Ah non (Oh no)
Très sympa, oui? (Very nice, yes?)
Putain Ouais: FUCK YEAH

Rest in pieces turtleneck
I'm back!
I’m back! Nadine is finally hitting the league challenge! But there are tensions and fears building right underneath her nose. When life starts falling apart, it’s awfully tempting to pin it all on a foreign scapegoat.

Also the French spell espresso with an “x” and it kills me inside.
A little note
Watercolor panels! I'm a bit iffy about how this turned out, but it was fun to experiment with either way. Things are going to be on a bit of a hiatus for the next month (I need time to work on a portfolio for Design School) but I should start updating regularly again around June.
Trainer Class info
Thanks for the comment! Honestly there are more trainer classes than I can even count. There are Pokemon Rangers, hikers, ace trainers...there's a full list here ( if you're curious.
Journey starts! Sorry about the resolution, I'm still trying to figure out how to do this. Am I putting too much French into this?
I apologize for the melodrama..I just wanted to set a few things up.
Let's do this!
