The colours are so good here. Fantastic atmosphere. The orange v blue thing works great
with the eyes and even more so with the shooting panel. And it's a nice detail that he
checks the other corner as well.

The contrast with his sightly amber eyes against the cold blue lighting is really, really
effective. Also, I love that his little hamster friend appears to be wearing a nightcap.
That's lovely.

This one is looking good so far too. I love the gun, and I really like the thing where now
and then Alex's eyes seem to glow. I'm all intrigued.
BellaMal: That was me, and dear god get the book back. It's the only novel I've ever read where I've actually turned a page only to go 'OH HELL NO AUGH NO DOING THIS' and have to stop for the night because it'd felt like the insanity and horror of the story had somehow infected the book in my hands. Also there's a letter in code in the appendix and decoding it was the most unsettling literary thing I've ever experienced. *shudder* I'm not sure getting to the end will make you feel any less haunted, but you should experience the whole thing.

On dark and fear... have you ever read the novel 'House of Leaves'? It's one of the best
portrayals of the horror just on the edge of our senses I've ever read. (And has some of
the most bizarre typography you'll see anywhere.)

The lighting is especially nice on this page.
I think your time of setting it is a good idea as well. There's a rich tradition supernatural and gothic fiction around the time (In contrast to the also awesome modern gothic and urban fantasy/horror stuff) and it's nice to see a fresh take on the stuff.
Your choice of spirit for this one makes me wonder if you're going to engage with the industrial revolution more. The abuse of kids here makes me think of the horrible times the weaver kids had in the mills and I've never seen anyone really do much about that.
Wherever you take Alex I'm really looking forward to reading it. :)

Loving the atmosphere you've created in this. You do some the best film inspired stuff I've seen, always capturing the essence of what you're referencing it yet at the same time making it very much your own.
