He jumped in.
Chapter one
In which:
A journey begins


He was dead. He was floating in the eternal abyss. He was cold, lifeless, and he wasn’t the only one. He felt a nearby presence, a flickering of light, and then it was gone.

It was another guardian, the one he had just killed.

He only had barely enough time to grasp these things before he felt a tugging sensation in his very being and then suddenly, he was back In the land of the living.


He immediately grabbed his bow off of his back, nocked an arrow to it, and leaped out into the chaos of gambit.


His ghost was relaying the stats of the match into his visor as he leaped into the caves in the
Cathedral of scars.

They weren’t good.

His team was at 50 motes in the bank while the enemy team had enough to summon a primeval.

Scratch that, HAD summoned a primeval.

As he let loose a volley of arrows aimed at a group of cabal he saw that the primeval said health was diminishing fast, faster than he has comfortable with.


As he ran to the heavy ammunition spawn he saw he had another problem. Someone was camping the invasion portal.

He grabbed the heavy ammo and loaded his thunderlord as he ran over to the portal.


“Move over titan,” he said, “I need to save the enemies primeval.”

“Not today hunter, I need this portal.” The titan responded with a shake of his head.

“What for, a malfeasance? We’re about the lose this match and this round unless someone takes out the entire enemy team.” The hunter replied frustratedly.

“Yeah, I can see that,” the titan said with a condescending tone of voice,”And I’M the invader, not you. Now go kill some cabal with that little toy bow of yours.”


Now he could see exactly what kind of person this titan was. He thought he was better than everyone else. Probably had lost plenty of matches before that too, thanks to his “skill” at invading.

He knew just what to do to take care of this jerk.


He gave him a hard right hook to the jaw.

As the titan crumpled to the ground in front of the portal it opened into a cavernous mouth o
