@Barnes4321 - And you were right! Save up your pennies and buy a copy or three without delay! ;-)
Shades Volume 1 now in print!
Woo hoo! If you've enjoyed reading Shades here at SmackJeeves, the good news is that Shades Volume 1 is now available in print, so you can have your own copy to read and re-read as often as you like! That pic up there is a sneak peak of the back cover! So ... where can you get hold of a copy?

Readers in the U.S.
This is easy - you guys can buy a copy now at Indy Planet!

Readers outside the U.S.
Well, you guys can also buy from Indy Planet, obviously. However, with U.S. international postage rates being so expensive, you might find it slightly cheaper to buy direct from my own Broken Voice Comics website. I estimate most non-U.S. readers should be able to save about $5 on postage and, for readers in the UK, it should work out around $10 cheaper!
Note
:
Okay, here's a second close-up on the final panel of the Epilogue, together with the relevant extract from the script's art direction for that panel.
Again, I think this gives a good idea of just how much attention to detail Nickel put into the facial expressions of each of our little character groupings!
Note
:
As you'd expect from an artist of his caibre, Nickel put a lot of detail into the facial expressions in the final panel of the Epilogue. Unfortunately, that isn't immediately obvious at the reduced page size, so this is a close-up of the Shaman's little group, together with an extract from the script's art direction for that panel.

Bearing in mind this was only one of six groups in that panel, I think it illustrates what a ridiculously hard task I set for poor Nickel, and what a fantastic job he made of it!
The End
:
Well, this is it guys ... we've finished our story and this is the very last page of Shades. Ever!
We've had a lot of fun putting this together and I hope you've enjoyed it too.
Response
:
Barnes - "heads" was the word I thought of, but "bone" works, too!
Either way, Future Becky is probably not someone to mess with!
Response
:
Barnes - No; no explosions in the epilogue, I'm afraid.
You might find something that takes your fancy on the next page, though!
Response
:
Barnes - Aaaaw! But everyone cries at weddings!
Response
:
Barnes - Damn?
The end is nigh
!
Well, that's it guys ... We still have a short epilogue to go, but this page marks the end of the main event!

And, given how wordy most of these pages have been, just how ironic is it that we end on a page with no dialogue at all?!
May Day Bank Holiday
:
Yeah, this page is a day late this week.
I'm blaming the fact that yesterday was a Bank Holiday here in dear old Blighty!
Response
Barnes - Some guys just have to learn the hard way!
Response
:
Barnes - it's those "untested" psychic missiles. Always a good idea to fear anything "untested"! ;-)
Shades game
!
Have you played the Shades game yet? Based on Becky's experiences in the spirit world, you can find it over at Difference Games!

Just click here to play the game, but be warned: there is a spoiler! If you play through to the end, you'll find out just what happens to poor Becky ... Of course, some of you may consider that an extra incentive to play!
Shades game
!
Here's something a little unusual: Becky's spirit, as I'm sure you all know, is trapped in the spirit world. Well, those nice people over at Difference Games have created a game based on Becky's experiences there!

Barnes - Let's be honest, it was probably never a good idea to trust someone who calls himself "Bedlam" in the first place!

Barnes - Ha! You'd make an excellent WWE commentator!
Review at Project Fanboy
:
Hey, those nice guys at the Project Fanboy website have reviewed Shades in their "Webcomics You Should Be Reading" column.
And you know what they had to say?

"Shades is one of the all around best webcomics out there, in any genre.", that's what!
You can read the full review here!
Response
:
Barnes - too true!
