About Me

I come from a land called Tacoma(that would be "Squid Demon" in Japanese),WA. If you don't know where that is, lets just say it is the one next to Seattle. Now everybody nod your head and say "ohhhhh, SEATTLE!"

Anywho. The three things most important in my life are: Drawing, Music, and Martial arts, not particularly in that order. I am a college student currently majoring in music education, but that might change.

My ambitions in life are to make a good webcomic that I am consistant with, become proficient at martial arts and perhaps try my hand at voice acting.

It is Summer again. And that means I get to wear one outfit for its entirety. That outfit would be the paint-stained Student Works outfit I don, this time for the last time. I've been going back to re-read some classic books, so I decided to whip this one out.
So I was playing Prototype the other day. I had got it as a birthday present from Tommy. First off, let me say how amazing and kick ass that game is. It has a decent amount of challenge and a great movement/combat scheme. And there is nothing more fun than running down the street with multitudes of military personnel and crazy infected creatures and being able to pick up and throw cars, building pieces, people, basically anything you can get your hands on, in mid stride and then throw it at said enemies. If they ever make a Venom game, this is how I expect it to play.
However, not long was I able to play until I saw it. Like the devil's eye itself, staring at me from the darkness of the abyss. My Xbox red-ringed. GAH! I was so pissed. So I only got to play a quarter of the way through the game until I get a new one. Oh well. It has given me time to go back and relive the glory days of the PS2.

So. In case any of you didn't get the joke, due to your lack of anime knowledge or just my crappy art skills, allow me to enlighten you. Sometimes a character will sigh, whether from relief or stress, and a small, mushroom-shaped cloud will come out of said character's mouth.

Speaking of artwork. You guys should let me know how my swatches are for this comic. I'm trying to do a bit more with color theory(since my girlfriend, Isabella makes fun of me for it all the time. Stupid art students). Also, I will probably not be inking anymore. I kind of prefer a sketcher style. Of course, I change my drawing style every two weeks, so who know?

I won a costume contest the other day at my school's swing dancing club. I went dressed as Quail Man from Nickelodeon's Doug. If you don't know who Quailman is, you have better go Google the hell out of it right now! Also in other news, my school kicked our Aikido club out to the curb this year and replaced our mat room with a lounge-ish thing. So our four sensei got together and bought out a series of offices and made a dojo in downtown Bellingham. It is soooo amazing, but a bit smaller than our old place was. We are having a fun time working out the funding to keep it. The exciting news is that our Shihan(the head honcho) is coming up from Minnesota to bless the dojo(he is a Buddhist priest as well as an Aikidoka), and will also be giving a couple of free demonstrations and lessons. I am really excited.

Well gotta go. I have some Halloween parties to get going to. Man I'm such a terrible Pagan. I will leave you all with my signature quote.

"I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain." ~Frank Herbert's Dune

Yeah. I realized I need to get back into this. Especially since I actually have some fans now.

...I'm back.

I think I missed my calling as a rap artist.

Also, you don't fuck with Dave.

So how has everyone been? I took a bit of a hiatus...Ok a long ass hiatus consisting of an entire quarter of not drawing a damn thing. But this has changed. I am now back in the groove of making comics again and have obtained, hopefully, a few new skillz in the interim. My girlfriend, Isabelle, is teaching me some ACTUAL art technicues such as composition and color scheme(of which this particular comic has neither).

In other news, I got back from Sakura Con in Seattle a few days ago. And I just want to say that it WAS FUCKING SWEET! Actually I believe there needs to be another exclamation mark ...! There we go. Anyway. I got to meet alot of my favorite webcomic artists and spoke at length with a couple of them. Gabe and Tycho where there with Fred Gallagher, as per usual. However, there were also a couple of newcomers to join in. Sam logan from Sam and Fuzzy was sharing a booth with Jeph Jacques from Questionable Content and Claire Berry from It's Kittybot!, all very nice people.
I also went to the Q and A panel for the Rooster Teeth guys. When I raised my hand to ask a question, Gus pointed straight at me and said "Yes, that girl right there. Yes, over there, that girl". When I got the mike I asked my question in the lowest register my voice would go(which is pretty low), they were so embarrased, they couldn't speak for a little while. I later went to their booth and asked them if they gave out "gender ambiguity discounts". They apparently made a comic about the interaction. So did I...I will be posting it as soon as it's done...heheh...

Also got to talk for a while with Liriel McMahon who makes Bad Blood. I was hanging out helping my friend San sell buttons and she was trying to escape this woman who would NOT shut up at her booth. I think after a good hour the woman made her way to our table, said a couple of sentences, and then left. Me and San did a little victory jig afterword.

As a side note, I have realized that I am now cursed at conventions. The last convention I was at, KumoriCon, I recieved a concussion from a kick to the face, wherein my head and the pavement became very fast friends(Long Story). Not to be outdone, at Sakura Con this year I was just getting done with a party and decided that some karaoke would be a great idea at 2:30 in the morning(keeping in mind that I was drinking). So I sang Drivers High, by La Arc En Ciel. I decided to do a one-handed round-off off of the stage. Now, keep in mind, this is a maneuver that I do all the time, I have never once been hurt. Now, normally you land that kind of thing on two legs. I didn't....and, apparently(as I just found out) I tore a ligament in my left knee. So, guess who's ready for surgery? After a good four more weeks of limping and icing my knee, I get to have somebody cut into my Anterior crucuate ligament and put it back together. Yay!!...-_-...

Well I guess that means more working in photoshop, so being slightly more incapacitated will be a good thing for you guys then. It also gave Bella yet ANOTHER reason to say "I told you so".

So this comic is written as a sign of good faith that I am indeed working on something. New comics will be up soon. I have one done that I just need to color and I will start belting them out with more frequency as I get better and more effecient with photoshop. That you all for your patience with me. It is always appreciated.
