@maplebee: yeah, in terms of home-planet Veo culture, it would probably be best to assume that it's different from whatever "space standard" there is, and that spacefaring Veo simply adapted to fit that, so it's probably a moot point anyway lol

@maplebee: The thing is that anything below base-8 doesn't really lend itself well to high level maths/arithmetics at all. If you don't mind me jumping into your head for a minute, we could look at it culturally - after all, our own species' various base numeral systems have varied across cultures - and we can say, for instance, that a dominant Veo culture at some point began using base-12, causing the rest of the species to adopt it gradually as technology advanced. To further explain the use of base-12, it could be a microbase-3 system, where the 12 initial values are represented by both hands - that is, 1-3 is 1, 2, 3 on a primary hand and 0 on the secondary, all the way up to 10-12, which would be 1, 2, 3 on the primary and 3 on the secondary - basically ticking up the microbase counting system here. The Veo words for numerals could be an extension of this concept - so you could have, for instance, instead of one, two, three, four, five, six, you could have one, wo, ree, tone, two, tree, thone, thwo, three, fone, fwo, free (not that, of course, but something similar to that, where each interval of 3 repeats a phonetic element with a slight variation to mark its stage in the microbase).

sorry, I'm kind of a math and linguistics nerd, it's a dangerous combination lol

This page (mainly due to all the close-ups of hands) has gotten me wondering - what numerical base do the Veo use? Popular consensus to our use of base 10 is that we have ten fingers on which to count, but by that logic the Veo surely wouldn't also use a base-10 system.
but it's not april yet
